Salary: circa £40,000 per annum


Contract: Fixed term, 12 months


Location: On-site, North Tyneside


Role Overview

  • Hands‑on mechanical assembly role within a heavy engineering environment
  • Assembly of large steel fabrications, hydraulic cylinders and operating systems
  • Working from engineering drawings and parts lists to deliver high‑quality builds
  • Ensuring compliance with production schedules, quality standards and safety requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble complex mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Build and fit large-scale steel fabrications and hydraulic equipment
  • Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings
  • Perform hydraulic builds, testing and system integration
  • Maintain safe working practices in line with company and regulatory standardsCollaborate with production teams to ensure efficient workflow
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and problem‑solving activities

Required Experience & Skills

  • Proven mechanical assembly experience in a heavy engineering environment
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and components
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong decision‑making and fault‑finding capability
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Confident working independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

  • HNC or equivalent technical qualification (or relevant practical experience)
