Job Title: Mechanical Technician


Location: Wales & South West (with occasional UK-wide travel)


Salary: £35,000


Job Type: Full-time, Permanent


Rhino Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a well-established and highly respected fire safety solutions provider, who are looking to expand their mechanical division with the addition of a Mechanical Suppression Technician.

The Role

As a Mechanical Suppression Technician, you will play a key role in the installation, servicing, and maintenance of fire suppression systems. You will be working across a variety of commercial and industrial sites, ensuring systems are compliant, operational, and meet the highest safety standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Installation and servicing of mechanical fire suppression systems (gaseous and kitchen systems)
  • Inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire extinguishers and suppression systems
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs or replacements
  • Conducting fire extinguisher inspections
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and system specifications
  • Ensuring all work complies with relevant regulations and standards (e.g. BS and ISO)
  • Maintaining accurate service records and compliance documentation
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and internal teams to deliver projects efficiently
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate

Requirements

Essential:



  • Experience working with gaseous and kitchen suppression systems (e.g. Ansul and/or Amerex)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding ability
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and develop within the role

Desirable:



  • Experience in room integrity testing
  • Fire extinguisher servicing experience
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g. Ansul R-102, Amerex, Fire Extinguisher Technician)
