Contract: Self-Employed - 12 Months
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: £240 - £275 per shift (DOE)
Hours: Out-of-Hours (OOH)
Requirement: Enhanced DBS (essential) Experience in Mechanical Supervisor (Essential)


Mechanical Supervisor Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to lead retrofit works across school projects in Lincoln. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands‑on, client‑facing professional who thrives on responsibility, autonomy, and delivering high‑quality mechanical works in live environments.


Working on education facilities, you'll play a key role in maintaining and upgrading critical building services systems — primarily within plant rooms and heating systems — ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.


If you're a seasoned professional with a plumbing, pipefitting, or HVAC background and are ready to take ownership on site, this role offers strong earning potential and long‑term stability.


The Mechanical Supervisor

As Mechanical Supervisor, you will:



  • Supervise mechanical retrofit works within school environments
  • Oversee maintenance, plant room upgrades, heating system repairs, PPMs and reactive works
  • Manage and direct a team of engineers on site
  • Act as the main client‑facing representative
  • Make independent decisions when required
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification
  • Read and interpret designs and instruct the team accordingly
  • Complete general documentation and maintain clear site records
  • Liaise with the visiting Project Manager (weekly or bi‑weekly site visits)

This is an out-of-hours role, ensuring works are completed with minimal disruption to school operations.


Requirements for the Mechanical Supervisor

We're looking for someone who is:



  • Highly experienced in mechanical building services
  • From a strong plumbing/pipefitting background (decades of experience welcomed) or From an HVAC background with solid knowledge of plumbing and pipefitting
  • Confident reading drawings and directing engineers
  • IT literate and comfortable with site documentation
  • Friendly, approachable and professional with clients
  • Proactive, solutions‑focused and a strong decision maker
  • Comfortable managing engineers and taking ownership on site

You must hold (or be willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS due to the nature of the projects
