Jamesway Chick Master Incubator Inc. (Jamesway) is a global provider of commercial Poultry Incubation Products and Services. Jamesway is a privately held company, headquartered in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada and operates subsidiary operations in the United States, UK and China.

The Canadian company is the global headquarters, and all major product engineering is performed at this location. This company also hosts global Finance, HR, IT, QA and primary manufacturing, as well as global Sales, Service and Marketing. Sales and Service operations are segregated into five major global regions: North America, Latin America, Europe, MEA/CIS, North APAC and South APAC.

Position Description & Scope

As part of our continued growth and development the Mechanical Production Engineer will be involved in the overall mechanical design of the product, including the development of new concepts and the refinement of existing designs. This position will also be responsible for the development of specifications and drawings, as well as working with other engineers and departments to ensure the successful implementation of the design.

Position Duties & Responsibilities
  • Define project requirements, including product usage and functionality.
  • Design and produce 2D and 3D drawings using engineering design software.
  • Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP system.
  • Ensure products meet specifications, industry standards, and consumer needs.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Department to determine manufacturing requirements and processes.
  • Participate in the development of manufacturing processes and establish supply chains with key suppliers.
  • Assess production costs and develop strategies for cost-effective manufacturing.
  • Evaluate the final product for appearance, performance, functionality, durability, and safety.
  • Incorporate feedback and make necessary revisions to designs and processes.
  • Generate and maintain accurate and up-to-date Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing production processes and practices.
  • Experience with pumps, heat exchangers, fans, and pipe sizing.
  • Proficient in engineering design software, particularly Inventor, with experience using Vault.
  • Solid understanding of design and engineering principles and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • High attention to detail and a critical mindset.
  • Ability to stay updated on advancements in technology and engineering design trends.
  • Calm and composed under pressure, with flexibility to adapt to change.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Education & Certifications
  • Engineering-related qualification (e.g., BEng, HNC, HND, or Bachelor’s degree) in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Production Design Engineer.
