Mechanical Fitter.


Location: Doncaster
Rate: £28.66/hour (Umbrella)
Contract:3 months +
Hours:36 hours per week
Start Date:ASAP

About the Role:

We're currently seeking a Level 3 Fitter to support operations on diesel locomotives at our Doncaster depot. This is a hands‑on role involving fuelling, servicing, and safety‑critical maintenance of rolling stock.


Key Responsibilities:
Fuelling Operations:

  • Safely refuel locomotives using red-dyed diesel.
  • Follow strict procedures for fuel handling and transfer.
  • Maintain accurate fuel logs and documentation.

Service Support:

  • Load/unload consumables (sand, water, lube oil, waste fluids).
  • Conduct pre‑and post‑shift inspections of fuelling equipment.
  • Perform light maintenance and cleaning duties.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Wear all required PPE and follow depot safety protocols.
  • Report incidents or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Empowered to stop work if safety is compromised.

Communication & Dispatch:

  • Respond promptly.
  • Maintain readiness for on‑call fuelling within a 12‑hour window.

Shift Pattern:

  • 3 on 4 off 6am - 6pm (Possibility of overtime)
  • 3 on 4 off 6pm - 6am (Possibility of overtime)

What We're Looking For:

  • Level 3 qualified technician or equivalent experience.
  • Reliable, proactive, and comfortable with repetitive tasks.
  • Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
