The role
As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will undertake mechanical fitting activities, repairs and inspections on systems and equipment on all aspects of work completed within the estate and, when required, in other sections.


Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for the completion of all planned preventative maintenance to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business.

  • Identification and rectification of all system, manufacture, defects and alterations.
  • Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity in accordance with set objectives and timescales.
  • Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems Of Work and control of work processes within BM&T Clyde policies.

Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standingfor extended periods of time.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week, Monday – Thursday and is based on site at HMNB Faslane.

Essential experience of the Mechanical Fitter

  • Mechanical fitting working experience
  • Experience and knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment
  • Experience with interpretating engineering drawings
  • Knowledge and experience of pressure systems

Qualifications for the Mechanical Fitter

  • NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent is essential.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance for this role.
