As a Mechanical Systems Engineer in the Package Integration and Layout Team, you will be responsible for undertaking mechanical systems engineering requirements associated with customer projects on the range of SGT auxiliary systems such as drivetrain, acoustics and structures. The expectation is that the role will be primarily focussed on the customer order engineering side (applications) of the team, although there may be work on the standard designs too as workload dictates.

How You’ll Make An Impact
  • Be part of a team delivering gas turbine packages for the customer.
  • Liaising with customers, suppliers and internal colleagues to understand the requirements for the project and subsequently developing the most suitable solutions.
  • Writing/updating purchase specifications and working with suppliers to find the best solutions for new designs or improving existing designs.
  • Completing analysis where appropriate to ensure that designs are suitable for the customer application.
  • Reviewing and checking work by colleagues and suppliers.
  • Providing assistance for fault report investigations, manufacturing/assembly support and supporting sales.
  • Understanding, and being involved in, commercial discussions and impacts on cost, lead time and market acceptability.
  • Support for global contract engineering and manufacturing locations for Siemens Energy gas turbine auxiliary equipment.
What You Bring
  • Qualified to graduate level in a mechanical engineering discipline (BEng or equivalent).
  • Ability to work collaboratively (internally and with external partners) and individually to achieve results.
  • Ability to work through difficult problems, establish clear set of requirements and goals and establish a route forward acceptable to all parties.
  • Flexible to meet the changing needs of the business and department.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage several tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate at all levels.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to perform detailed engineering calculations.
  • Good computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power-Point).
  • PLM2020 experience preferred, but not essential.
