  • Provide operational support, troubleshooting, incident investigations, and manage on‑call responsibilities to ensure continuous safe operation.
  • Support compliance with hydrogen safety standards, including DSEAR, IEC/BS EN 60079, ATEX, UKEX, and relevant ISO standards.

Job Requirements

  • Significant experience in mechanical engineering within the gas, petrochemical, power, or hydrogen industries.
  • Understanding of hydrogen safety, pressure regulation, pressure systems legislation, and associated standards.
  • Experience in asset management, reliability engineering, and maintenance strategy formulation.
  • Knowledge of DSEAR risk assessments, hazardous area classification, and UKEX/ATEX equipment specifications.
  • Proficiency with relevant safety standards such as ISO/TR 15916, ISO 22734, ISO (phone number removed), and IGEM/SR/25.
  • Demonstrable ability to facilitate root cause analysis, FMEA, RBI, and data analytics for reliability KPIs.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong stakeholder communication, change management, and technical documentation skills.

Qualifications & Training

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Working towards or possessing Chartered Engineer status with IMechE or similar.
  • Desirable: Experience as an Authorising Engineer/Person, NEBOSH Process Safety certification, ISO 55001 training, Six Sigma/Lean techniques, and CDM awareness.

Additional Information

This role involves collaboration with teams across operations, SHEQ, capital delivery, and business development, alongside liaising with OEMs and certified persons. It offers the opportunity to influence key projects within the hydrogen and renewable energy space, ensuring safety and operational excellence at every step. New Edge Computing Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Shaping Edge Innovation

Edge computing is transforming how data is processed by bringing compute power closer to the source of generation. With the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT), real‑time analytics, autonomous systems, and latency‑sensitive applications, edge computing has moved from a niche discipline to a core component of digital infrastructure. In 2026, organisations that specialise in or heavily invest in edge computing are expanding their teams to build distributed systems, real‑time analytics platforms, and edge‑optimised AI. For professionals exploring opportunities on www.EdgeComputingJobs.co.uk , understanding which employers are growing, winning contracts, or securing investment is essential. This article highlights the new and high‑growth edge computing employers to watch in 2026, including UK startups, international innovators with a UK presence, and established companies shifting strategy toward edge.

How Many Edge Computing Tools Do You Need to Know to Get an Edge Computing Job?

If you’re trying to start or grow a career in edge computing, it can feel like you’re navigating a maze of tools, frameworks and platforms — Kubernetes, Docker, IoT frameworks, AWS Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, OpenShift, TinyML toolkits, networking orchestration, real-time streaming frameworks, and on it goes. Scroll job boards and community forums and it’s easy to conclude that unless you master every buzzword imaginable, you’ll never get a job. Here’s the honest truth most edge computing hiring managers won’t necessarily say out loud: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every edge computing tool — they hire you because you can solve real system problems using the tools you know. Tools matter, yes — but only when they support clear outcomes: reliable systems, performance at scale, secure edge deployments and real business value. So how many edge computing tools do you actually need to know to secure a job? For most edge computing roles, the answer is fewer than you think — and a lot clearer when sorted by fundamentals and roles. This guide shows you what matters, what doesn’t, and how to focus your time wisely so you come across as capable, confident and employable.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Edge Computing Job Applications (UK Guide)

In today’s fast-evolving tech landscape, edge computing is one of the most sought-after fields — blending distributed systems, embedded systems, networking, cloud, IoT, data and real-time processing. But that also means hiring managers are highly selective. They scan applications fast and look for signals of relevance, impact, technical depth and real-world delivery long before they read every line. This guide demystifies what hiring managers in edge computing look for first in your application — so you can tailor your CV, portfolio and cover letter to jump out of the stack. Whether you’re targeting edge systems roles, embedded IoT edge jobs, edge-native data roles, edge platform engineering or edge-AI positions, this checklist will help you position your experience in a way hiring managers can trust immediately.
