Job Description

Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit! Reporting to the Turbine Island Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for various Turbine Island design development activities. The Mechanical Engineer shall work closely with multi-disciplined teams and the supply chain to help deliver the Turbine Island design.

Your mission:

  1. Ensure supplier deliverables meet requirements.
  2. Develop and check design documents with Senior Engineers.
  3. Assist in design development activities and optioneering studies.
  4. Apply Systems Engineering principles.
  5. Integrate Turbine Island design into wider power plant infrastructure.
  6. Engage with stakeholders and attend design reviews.
  7. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Relevant senior engineering experience in sectors like offshore, renewables, nuclear, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Solid background in mechanical and structural engineering.
  • Proficient with CAD software: Skilled in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Catia.
  • Strong mathematical skills: Experienced with MathCAD software.
  • Skilled in producing technical reports: Expertise in creating design and substantiation reports, assembly procedures, etc.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes: Understanding of welding, machining, etc.
  • Experienced with the engineering design cycle from Concept to Manufacture.

Additional Information:

  • Familiar with European and Offshore standards: Experience with Eurocode 3 and DNV.
  • Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Skilled in checking and approving engineering CAD assemblies and drawings.
  • Proficient in verifying engineering documentation: Manual calculations, reports, etc.
  • Excellent Finite Element Analysis skills: In-depth knowledge of ANSYS Workbench is desirable.
  • Experienced in non-linear and fatigue FEA: Familiar with DNV and Eurocodes.
