Mechanical / Electromechanical Rebuild & Refurbishment Engineer

Hours:MondayThursday 7:00 am3:30 pm | Friday 7:00 am12:30 pm
Type:Full-Time, Workshop-Based
Salary:£27,000£30,000 per annum

The Opportunity

Our client is a growing specialist engineering business with roots dating back to the 1960s. Following restructuring and relocation in 2022, the company is expanding its product range and workshop capability.

Theyre looking for a hands-on Mechanical / Electromechanical Rebuild & Refurbishment Engineer to join their small workshop team (5 people).

The Role

  • Overhauling linear bearing systems:

o Strip down, clean, measure, and reassemble

o Repair small motors and gearboxes as required

  • Manufacturing spindles:

o Precision-built work carried out at a steady, methodical pace

  • Maintaining and overhauling spindles
  • Building and assembling new mechanical products
  • Repairing, servicing, and refurbishing customer equipment
  • Mechanical fault-finding and rebuild work
  • Basic electrical tasks: motor wiring, testing, three-phase awareness
  • Working independently under light supervision

About You

Our client is open-minded about background. Direct spindle or linear bearing experience is advantageous but not essential.

Mechanical Skills

  • Mechanical assembly or rebuild experience
  • Experience with rotating equipment, motors, gearboxes, or similar precision assemblies
  • Background in MRO, repair, service, or workshop environments
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Skilled at careful disassembly and reassembly must be meticulous

Electrical & IT Skills

  • Basic electrical capability (not panel wiring work)
  • Ability to carry out basic resistance tests (can be taught)
  • Some simple electrical connections are required
  • Soldering ability is essential (joining cables, not circuit boards) must already have soldering experience
  • Electrical familiarity (three-phase motors, basic wiring/testing; drives/inverters beneficial)
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office

  • Self-starting, practical, and detail-conscious
  • Meticulous and takes pride in quality work
  • Happy to muck in and work as part of a team
  • Able to use own initiative and up for a challenge
  • Comfortable working within established processes
