Position: Mechanical & Electrical Engineer

Department: Property - Maintenance

Reporting to: Maintenance & Installations Manager

Location: Southall

Job Purpose

To ensure the optimal operation and reliability of all mechanical and electrical systems within the property. The role is essential for maintaining the functionality and safety of the facilities, thus supporting the overall business operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and service the mechanical and electrical systems, including Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Coil Units (FCUs), and electrical installation.
  • Plan preventive and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring all work is completed to high standards and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations during all maintenance activities.
  • Maintain the on-site activities of contractors to ensure tasks are completed effectively.
  • Provide technical support for both mechanical and electrical systems within the property.
  • Participate in an on-call rota and manage seasonal shift patterns, including weekends and evenings.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, including completion of reports and job sheets.
  • Any tasks or responsibilities as requested by management within the scope of the position.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Engineering/Technical Qualifications: Essential (e.g., Apprenticeship or NVQ level 3 in mechanical/plumbing/HVAC or electrical engineering).
  • Mechanical Systems: Proven competency in maintaining systems such as AHUs, FCUs, pump seals, bearings, and alignment.
  • Electrical Systems: Certification in BS7671 17th or 18th Edition City & Guilds, including C&G 2391 for Inspection, Testing, and Certification of Electrical Installations.
  • Building Services: Experience in building management systems (BMS) and the integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Driving Licence: Essential, full and clear.
  • Technical Documentation: Proficiency in writing clear and concise reports and job sheets, both manually and electronically.
