About the Role:

Working within the Hardware team as part of the Innovations group, the primary role will be the design of mechanical components, assemblies and wiring looms using CAD and the generation of drawings for their manufacture. The role will also entail some travel and liaison with external test houses for third-party testing to medical standards such as ISO 60601. The work includes developing prototypes that demonstrate the feasibility and potential of our innovative ideas and concepts and seeing these through product realization. You will collaborate closely with other team members and Product Owners to translate conceptual designs into functional and interactive prototypes and also work on product hardware components within the product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using CAD, including sheet metalwork designs, and generate high‑quality technical drawings in SolidWorks.
  • Manufacture prototype components using in-house 3D printing facilities or working with external suppliers
  • Support third-party testing including collating and testing product systems prior to external testing, liaising with and visiting test houses (some overnight stays involved), managing required documentation and paperwork
  • Work with other team members and Product Owners to develop new product concepts.
  • Thorough testing of products to gain an excellent understanding of all Vision RT product configurations
  • Contributing to the Design History File for new and existing product designs
  • Take products through from concept to design transfer together with other Innovations members
Essential Skills & Experience
  • At least 3 years' experience with CAD development including drafting – preferably in SolidWorks
  • Experience designing sheet metal components and assemblies, including understanding of sheet metal fabrication principles
  • Capable of working independently or as part of a team
  • Able to self-manage projects with little oversight and deliver on-time
  • History of demonstrating numerical and analytical skills
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Knowledge of testing to ISO standards such as ISO 60601, or similar.
  • Experience of working within a development process, particularly in a regulated industry
  • Knowledge of the radiotherapy discipline and keenness to gain more understanding
