The Opportunity

If you're a Mechanical Contracts Manager looking for a role with a business that is genuinely growing, has a strong project pipeline and backs its delivery teams with proper support, this is worth a conversation.

Our client is an M&E building services contractor based in Liverpool, with over 20 years in the industry and a client list that includes some of the North West's most active main contractors and developers. They work across new build, refurbishment and fit out, with projects ranging from mid-size schemes through to high-value residential and mixed-use developments across Merseyside, Greater Manchester and beyond.

This is a permanent appointment in which you'll take full responsibility for the delivery of mechanical contracts from award through to handover. It's a role with real ownership, working alongside a capable team in a business that has earned its reputation through consistent delivery and strong client relationships.

About the Business

Our client has been operating for over two decades and has built a strong position in the North West M&E market. Their portfolio spans residential, healthcare, education, commercial and extra care sectors, with a client base that includes well‑known names across the main contractor and developer space. Their repeat business rate reflects the quality of their work and the way they manage client relationships.

They offer a full MEP design, coordination and installation service, with an in‑house design team capable of producing detailed engineering solutions across a range of project types. Based in Merseyside with excellent motorway access, they are well positioned to work across the wider North West region.

The workforce is stable and experienced, with many long‑serving staff at all levels. This is a business that looks after its people, invests in the right resources and has the pipeline to sustain continued growth.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Taking full ownership of mechanical contract delivery from mobilisation through to final account and handover
  • Managing directly employed mechanical operatives, site supervisors and specialist subcontractors across concurrent projects
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, main contractors and design teams throughout delivery
  • Producing and managing project programmes, identifying risks early and coordinating solutions with the wider team
  • Overseeing procurement of materials, plant and subcontract packages in line with programme and budget requirements
  • Managing change, tracking variations and maintaining accurate commercial records throughout
  • Ensuring mechanical installations are delivered to the required quality standard, in line with specifications and current regulations
  • Attending progress meetings and representing the business professionally at client and consultant level
  • Supporting handover and commissioning activity, including O&M documentation and defect resolution

What We're Looking For

  • A solid background in mechanical contracting, with experience managing contracts from start to finish at Contracts Manager level
  • Comfortable running multiple projects simultaneously across a range of sectors and values
  • Strong on programme management, subcontract administration and client-facing communication
  • Commercial awareness: an understanding of variations, cost control and reporting at contract level
  • SMSTS qualified (or equivalent)
  • Relevant mechanical qualifications
  • Full UK driving licence

What's on Offer

  • £60,000 - £70,000 depending on experience
  • Full company benefits package
  • Varied and consistent workload across residential, healthcare and commercial sectors
  • A business with a strong regional reputation and the client relationships to back it up
  • Genuine growth trajectory with a business that is expanding its mechanical capability

New Edge Computing Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Shaping Edge Innovation

Edge computing is transforming how data is processed by bringing compute power closer to the source of generation. With the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT), real‑time analytics, autonomous systems, and latency‑sensitive applications, edge computing has moved from a niche discipline to a core component of digital infrastructure. In 2026, organisations that specialise in or heavily invest in edge computing are expanding their teams to build distributed systems, real‑time analytics platforms, and edge‑optimised AI. For professionals exploring opportunities on www.EdgeComputingJobs.co.uk , understanding which employers are growing, winning contracts, or securing investment is essential. This article highlights the new and high‑growth edge computing employers to watch in 2026, including UK startups, international innovators with a UK presence, and established companies shifting strategy toward edge.

How Many Edge Computing Tools Do You Need to Know to Get an Edge Computing Job?

If you’re trying to start or grow a career in edge computing, it can feel like you’re navigating a maze of tools, frameworks and platforms — Kubernetes, Docker, IoT frameworks, AWS Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, OpenShift, TinyML toolkits, networking orchestration, real-time streaming frameworks, and on it goes. Scroll job boards and community forums and it’s easy to conclude that unless you master every buzzword imaginable, you’ll never get a job. Here’s the honest truth most edge computing hiring managers won’t necessarily say out loud: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every edge computing tool — they hire you because you can solve real system problems using the tools you know. Tools matter, yes — but only when they support clear outcomes: reliable systems, performance at scale, secure edge deployments and real business value. So how many edge computing tools do you actually need to know to secure a job? For most edge computing roles, the answer is fewer than you think — and a lot clearer when sorted by fundamentals and roles. This guide shows you what matters, what doesn’t, and how to focus your time wisely so you come across as capable, confident and employable.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Edge Computing Job Applications (UK Guide)

In today’s fast-evolving tech landscape, edge computing is one of the most sought-after fields — blending distributed systems, embedded systems, networking, cloud, IoT, data and real-time processing. But that also means hiring managers are highly selective. They scan applications fast and look for signals of relevance, impact, technical depth and real-world delivery long before they read every line. This guide demystifies what hiring managers in edge computing look for first in your application — so you can tailor your CV, portfolio and cover letter to jump out of the stack. Whether you’re targeting edge systems roles, embedded IoT edge jobs, edge-native data roles, edge platform engineering or edge-AI positions, this checklist will help you position your experience in a way hiring managers can trust immediately.
