Mechanical Contracts Manager

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Contracts Manager in Manchester to oversee delivery across a busy portfolio of building services works.

You’ll oversee mechanical building services packages such as HVAC, ventilation, pipework, plant upgrades and associated works, working closely with site teams and the supply chain.

This is a senior, delivery-led role for someone who can define scope, build clear delivery plans, lead multi-disciplinary teams, and keep projects aligned to safety, quality, programme and commercial performance from start to finish.

Our client is a well-established North-West building services and maintenance contractor, delivering mechanical and electrical engineering works alongside wider facilities management support.

They have a steady pipeline and are strengthening their delivery team with an experienced Contracts Manager who can bring structure, consistency, and strong client communication.

• Owning project outcomes by understanding what the client needs to achieve and translating that into a clear delivery approach
  
• Defining technical requirements and confirming feasibility against specification, scope of works and drawings
  
• Planning timescales, costs and resources, producing step‑step programmes and resource plans, and managing performance against them
  
• Leading and motivating a multi‑disciplinary team, coordinating supervisors, labour and subcontractors
  
• Managing procurement and supply chain performance to support delivery and achieve best value
  
• Supporting site teams with sequencing, access planning and short‑term look‑aheads to keep delivery moving cleanly
  
• Ensuring applications are processed with the client and that supply chain applications are captured and processed correctly
  
• Ensuring works meet strict health, safety, quality and environmental standards, including compliance with regulations
  
• Overseeing multiple project aspects simultaneously, keeping work fronts moving and resolving issues or delays quickly
  
• Negotiating and liaising with clients, designers, engineers, contractors and suppliers, and communicating effectively at every level
  
• Providing regular progress reporting to clients and stakeholders, maintaining clear documentation and controls

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Contracts Manager (or similar senior delivery role) within building services
  
• Strong technical understanding and ability to interpret specifications, scope and drawings
  
• Strong programme, resource and cost control capability, comfortable managing multiple projects concurrently
  
• Commercial awareness including applications, supply chain management, and cost performance
  
• Confident client‑facing communicator with strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  
• Organised approach to reporting, document control and compliance
  
• Full UK driving licence
  
• SMSTS or SSSTS (preferred)
  
• CSCS (preferred, depending on project requirements)
