Kinetic are supporting an established engineering and instrumentation manufacturer based in Altrincham in recruiting an Assembly Operative. With more than 150 years of engineering heritage, the company has built a strong reputation for precision manufacturing and high‑quality mechanical instrumentation. You will be responsible for the mechanical assembly and build of high‑precision products, working to exacting engineering standards. This is a very hands‑on role requiring good mechanical aptitude, the ability to work with tools and components, and a focus on producing high‑quality, reliable assemblies.

Key Mechanical & Production Responsibilities

  • Carry out hands‑on mechanical assembly and production tasks as directed.
  • Support day‑to‑day manufacturing operations across the workshop and assembly areas.
  • Assemble a range of mechanical parts, sub‑assemblies and components to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Inspect and verify finished mechanical assemblies following company quality procedures.
  • Work safely and maintain an organised, well‑kept workstation in accordance with Quality and H&S standards.
  • Assist with training of colleagues on mechanical processes, tooling and product builds where required.
  • Follow established mechanical build instructions, engineering processes and operational guidelines.
  • Meet agreed production targets and mechanical build deadlines.
  • Report and record any equipment faults, tooling issues or maintenance requirements.
  • Identify, log and report scrap or non‑conforming components in line with company procedures.
  • Undertake additional mechanical or production tasks once trained and authorised.

We are looking for Mechanical Assemblers with

  • Basic mechanical ability, comfortable using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
  • Hands‑on experience in a mechanical manufacturing, engineering, or production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail when assembling mechanical components and checking tolerances.
  • Ability to follow quality and safety standards, including ISO 9001:2015.
  • Confidence working from procedures, assembly instructions and technical documentation.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work closely with the Operations Manager and wider engineering team.

Benefits of the Assembly Role

As well as never working Fridays, the role offers:

  • Monday to Thursday – 9.25 hours per day
  • Flexible start times: 06:00, 06:30 or 07:00
  • £25,000.00 (£13ph Equivalent)
  • 28 days' holiday (including Bank Holidays)

If you feel you meet the requirements, please apply with an up‑to‑date CV. Please note that we do not accept applications over the phone, and due to expected interest, we cannot respond to every applicant. Kinetic plc is a Recruitment Consultancy with over 40 years' experience providing staffing solutions to the engineering, manufacturing and technical sectors. We review all applications carefully and will contact candidates whose experience closely matches the role.

New Edge Computing Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Shaping Edge Innovation

Edge computing is transforming how data is processed by bringing compute power closer to the source of generation. With the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT), real‑time analytics, autonomous systems, and latency‑sensitive applications, edge computing has moved from a niche discipline to a core component of digital infrastructure. In 2026, organisations that specialise in or heavily invest in edge computing are expanding their teams to build distributed systems, real‑time analytics platforms, and edge‑optimised AI. For professionals exploring opportunities on www.EdgeComputingJobs.co.uk , understanding which employers are growing, winning contracts, or securing investment is essential. This article highlights the new and high‑growth edge computing employers to watch in 2026, including UK startups, international innovators with a UK presence, and established companies shifting strategy toward edge.

How Many Edge Computing Tools Do You Need to Know to Get an Edge Computing Job?

If you’re trying to start or grow a career in edge computing, it can feel like you’re navigating a maze of tools, frameworks and platforms — Kubernetes, Docker, IoT frameworks, AWS Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, OpenShift, TinyML toolkits, networking orchestration, real-time streaming frameworks, and on it goes. Scroll job boards and community forums and it’s easy to conclude that unless you master every buzzword imaginable, you’ll never get a job. Here’s the honest truth most edge computing hiring managers won’t necessarily say out loud: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every edge computing tool — they hire you because you can solve real system problems using the tools you know. Tools matter, yes — but only when they support clear outcomes: reliable systems, performance at scale, secure edge deployments and real business value. So how many edge computing tools do you actually need to know to secure a job? For most edge computing roles, the answer is fewer than you think — and a lot clearer when sorted by fundamentals and roles. This guide shows you what matters, what doesn’t, and how to focus your time wisely so you come across as capable, confident and employable.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Edge Computing Job Applications (UK Guide)

In today’s fast-evolving tech landscape, edge computing is one of the most sought-after fields — blending distributed systems, embedded systems, networking, cloud, IoT, data and real-time processing. But that also means hiring managers are highly selective. They scan applications fast and look for signals of relevance, impact, technical depth and real-world delivery long before they read every line. This guide demystifies what hiring managers in edge computing look for first in your application — so you can tailor your CV, portfolio and cover letter to jump out of the stack. Whether you’re targeting edge systems roles, embedded IoT edge jobs, edge-native data roles, edge platform engineering or edge-AI positions, this checklist will help you position your experience in a way hiring managers can trust immediately.
