Junior Mechanical Engineer / Trainee Design Engineer (Building Services)

💼 Building Services Consultancy


A construction consultancy witha regional hub based on the outskirts of Bristol is looking to recruit a Junior Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of MEP projects across a range of built environment sectors.


Their office location offers easy access to the M4 and M5, making it accessible from across the wider Bristol, Gloucestershire and surrounding areas.


This is an opportunity to move into a design focused environment, working on behalf of both contractors and end‑user clients.


🔧 The Role

  • Supporting the delivery of mechanical building services projects
  • Assisting with design work, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Working alongside experienced engineers on live projects
  • Gaining exposure to projects from concept through to completion
  • Developing both technical and client‑facing skills over time

🎓 Development, Mentorship & Training

You’ll be part of a strong, experienced team who actively support junior engineers.


This isn't a “sink or swim” environment, you'll be working with people who will mentor you properly and help you build a level of understanding that will stay with you throughout your career.


Alongside this, the business offers fully funded training and development, supporting you as you progress into a more technically capable design engineer.


🎯 What They’re Looking For

  • Basic experience within mechanical building services engineering
  • Understanding of core systems (heating, ventilation, pipework, etc.)
  • A willingness to learn and move into a design-focused role
  • Good attitude and communication skills

👉 This role could also suit a time‑served Plumber, Gas Engineer or HVAC engineer looking to move off the tools and into an engineering / design environment.
