United Autosports – McLaren Hypercar Programme
Full-time, travelling role

Are you an experienced High Voltage Mechanic looking to work at the cutting edge of global motorsport? Do you thrive in high-pressure environments where precision, safety and technical discipline genuinely matter? If so, you could be the next High Voltage Mechanic on our McLaren Hypercar Programme.

About the Role

As our High Voltage Mechanic, you will take ownership of the most safety-critical systems on the car. This includes the hybrid system, energy storage, HV cabling, inverters, interlocks, safety circuits, and all associated procedures. You will work across car build, testing and race events to ensure these systems are safe, compliant, and performing at their peak.

This is not an entry-level position. You’ll be one of the few people authorised to work hands‑on with HV systems, making your judgement, discipline, and professionalism absolutely essential.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading HV activation, charging, shutdown and isolation procedures.
  • Managing lock‑out/tag‑out, interlock checks, PPE use, and safe working zones.
  • Working directly with the manufacturer’s hybrid engineers to maintain system integrity.
  • Conducting inspections, testing and condition checks on battery, inverter and hybrid components.
  • Supporting mechanical build where HV integration is required (cables, cooling, insulation checks).
  • Fault finding, responding to HV alarms, and following emergency response protocols.
  • Maintaining HV tooling, calibrations, signage and documentation.
  • Ensuring all regulatory, safety and manufacturer protocols are executed with absolute precision.
  • Providing technical oversight during events where live hybrid systems present real risk.

What We’re Looking For

  • Significant experience working with HV/hybrid systems in motorsport or a highly technical environment.
  • Formal HV certification (Level 3 minimum or equivalent manufacturer/FIA‑approved training).
  • Outstanding discipline, calmness and procedure‑led thinking.
  • Ability to manage risk, respond professionally under pressure and work safely in live environments.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and situational awareness in a fast-moving garage environment.

If you want to work in a role where your technical ability is genuinely mission‑critical, where precision matters and where you’ll be trusted with systems that few people can touch — this is the opportunity.

New Edge Computing Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Shaping Edge Innovation

Edge computing is transforming how data is processed by bringing compute power closer to the source of generation. With the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT), real‑time analytics, autonomous systems, and latency‑sensitive applications, edge computing has moved from a niche discipline to a core component of digital infrastructure. In 2026, organisations that specialise in or heavily invest in edge computing are expanding their teams to build distributed systems, real‑time analytics platforms, and edge‑optimised AI. For professionals exploring opportunities on www.EdgeComputingJobs.co.uk , understanding which employers are growing, winning contracts, or securing investment is essential. This article highlights the new and high‑growth edge computing employers to watch in 2026, including UK startups, international innovators with a UK presence, and established companies shifting strategy toward edge.

How Many Edge Computing Tools Do You Need to Know to Get an Edge Computing Job?

If you’re trying to start or grow a career in edge computing, it can feel like you’re navigating a maze of tools, frameworks and platforms — Kubernetes, Docker, IoT frameworks, AWS Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, OpenShift, TinyML toolkits, networking orchestration, real-time streaming frameworks, and on it goes. Scroll job boards and community forums and it’s easy to conclude that unless you master every buzzword imaginable, you’ll never get a job. Here’s the honest truth most edge computing hiring managers won’t necessarily say out loud: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every edge computing tool — they hire you because you can solve real system problems using the tools you know. Tools matter, yes — but only when they support clear outcomes: reliable systems, performance at scale, secure edge deployments and real business value. So how many edge computing tools do you actually need to know to secure a job? For most edge computing roles, the answer is fewer than you think — and a lot clearer when sorted by fundamentals and roles. This guide shows you what matters, what doesn’t, and how to focus your time wisely so you come across as capable, confident and employable.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Edge Computing Job Applications (UK Guide)

In today’s fast-evolving tech landscape, edge computing is one of the most sought-after fields — blending distributed systems, embedded systems, networking, cloud, IoT, data and real-time processing. But that also means hiring managers are highly selective. They scan applications fast and look for signals of relevance, impact, technical depth and real-world delivery long before they read every line. This guide demystifies what hiring managers in edge computing look for first in your application — so you can tailor your CV, portfolio and cover letter to jump out of the stack. Whether you’re targeting edge systems roles, embedded IoT edge jobs, edge-native data roles, edge platform engineering or edge-AI positions, this checklist will help you position your experience in a way hiring managers can trust immediately.
