AboutEnergy Systems

We help customers navigate the complex transition to a decarbonized and more sustainable energy future. We do this by assuring that energy systems work safely and effectively, using solutions that are increasingly digital. We also help industries and governments to navigate the many complex, interrelated transitions taking place globally and regionally, in the energy industry.

Do you enjoy solving real-life problems and learning from industry leading experts? Do you want to work on a variety of projects that touch all aspects of the energy transition?

Here at DNV, what we do matters. Whether it’s helping the Energy Industry transition to a more decarbonised and sustainable future or helping safeguard life, property and the environment, every day, what you do will make a difference. This is our shared purpose and one our people are proud to be part of.

Our highly respected Risk Advisory department in the UK and Ireland, is primarily responsible for the delivery of consultancy-based safety, integrity and risk management services. We provide high quality advisory services to the onshore and offshore oil and gas sector (upstream, midstream and downstream) and increasingly, provide similar services to the evolving hydrogen, carbon dioxide and renewables sectors.

Within this, our specialist integrity teams deliver a range of critical consultancy services such as failure investigation, fitness for service assessment, stress analysis of fixed and floating structures, life extension, risk-based inspection, asset health assessment, vibration assessment and risk management, to operators in support of their ongoing operations.

We are also leading our industry in advising clients how to repurpose their existing assets for the transportation of hydrogen or carbon dioxide to support the energy transition and deliver the innovative solutions that our industry and planet needs. This multi-disciplinary approach, with materials and integrity engineers working alongside our other discipline experts drawn from safety, flow assurance and rotating equipment, is what makes what we do, unique.

Our Opportunity

As a Graduate Structural Engineer within our growing Asset Integrity Section and Fixed and Floating Structures Team, you will join a diverse and experienced team of structural and mechanical engineers delivering high quality structural consultancy services to a wide range of clients. We have a strong track record of developing talented engineers into industry experts and welcome candidates who are keen to apply their technical background within the offshore and renewables sectors.

Using your Structural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering degree, you'll contribute to the delivery of technical work and project activities, while also supporting and mentoring less experienced colleagues as you progress. Your technical foundation will support the delivery of structural analyses in line with international codes and standards, ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost efficiency.

You will also have opportunities to gain exposure to project management and commercial activities, including supporting and leading technical proposal development:

  • Linear and non-linear structural analyses
  • Detailed finite element analysis (FEA)
  • Fatigue and Fracture mechanics assessments

Our structured Graduate Programme, therefore, provides a fantastic start to your career, enhancing both your technical and professional skills, whilst supporting your journey towards chartership and becoming an expert in your field. There will also be opportunities for working across our other specialist Asset Integrity / Risk Advisory teams and wider DNV group, on a range of exciting, energy asset technology projects. You will have opportunities to travel to client sites across the UK to support on site data collection activities.

You’ll be stretched but always supported, so don’t worry if the Energy industry or some of the terminology is unfamiliar to you, we’ll teach you all you need to know. Upon joining, you’ll receive a buddy to help you settle in, a mentor to enhance your technical knowledge, as well as ongoing on-the-job coaching and support from your colleagues.

Primarily based at our office in Aberdeen, you’ll initially be in the office most days, helping you get fully immersed with your colleagues and the work you will be doing. Once you’re settled into the role and fully up to speed, we offer a more hybrid model of working—typically a 3/2 split between office and home—to give you the best balance of collaboration and autonomy.

The role will also include some work at customer offices and sites in the UK and overseas, with offshore assignments a possibility, and will therefore require flexibility and a willingness to work on short to medium term assignments as required.

We value all our people and the contributions they make to our business, so it’s important that our rewards make us all feel valued here. That’s why we offer a flexible reward and benefits package, allowing you to choose the things that matter most to you, including;

  • Minimum Starting salary of £33,750
  • Non-contractual profit share scheme

Company contribution towards eye tests and glasses (for computer/laptop users), and Flu Vaccinations. Also, our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provides free and confidential support for issues including work, family, relationships, money and health and we provide free fruit in our offices
  • Financial Benefits: including a Pension Scheme with employer pension contributions up to 9%, Life Assurance and Income Protection
  • Travel benefits: Season Ticket Loan, Cycle to Work Scheme, Electric Vehicle Salary Sacrifice Scheme (for personal use)
  • Re-imbursement of relevant Professional Membership Fees (up to £570)

New Edge Computing Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Shaping Edge Innovation

Edge computing is transforming how data is processed by bringing compute power closer to the source of generation. With the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT), real‑time analytics, autonomous systems, and latency‑sensitive applications, edge computing has moved from a niche discipline to a core component of digital infrastructure. In 2026, organisations that specialise in or heavily invest in edge computing are expanding their teams to build distributed systems, real‑time analytics platforms, and edge‑optimised AI. For professionals exploring opportunities on www.EdgeComputingJobs.co.uk , understanding which employers are growing, winning contracts, or securing investment is essential. This article highlights the new and high‑growth edge computing employers to watch in 2026, including UK startups, international innovators with a UK presence, and established companies shifting strategy toward edge.

How Many Edge Computing Tools Do You Need to Know to Get an Edge Computing Job?

If you’re trying to start or grow a career in edge computing, it can feel like you’re navigating a maze of tools, frameworks and platforms — Kubernetes, Docker, IoT frameworks, AWS Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, OpenShift, TinyML toolkits, networking orchestration, real-time streaming frameworks, and on it goes. Scroll job boards and community forums and it’s easy to conclude that unless you master every buzzword imaginable, you’ll never get a job. Here’s the honest truth most edge computing hiring managers won’t necessarily say out loud: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every edge computing tool — they hire you because you can solve real system problems using the tools you know. Tools matter, yes — but only when they support clear outcomes: reliable systems, performance at scale, secure edge deployments and real business value. So how many edge computing tools do you actually need to know to secure a job? For most edge computing roles, the answer is fewer than you think — and a lot clearer when sorted by fundamentals and roles. This guide shows you what matters, what doesn’t, and how to focus your time wisely so you come across as capable, confident and employable.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Edge Computing Job Applications (UK Guide)

In today’s fast-evolving tech landscape, edge computing is one of the most sought-after fields — blending distributed systems, embedded systems, networking, cloud, IoT, data and real-time processing. But that also means hiring managers are highly selective. They scan applications fast and look for signals of relevance, impact, technical depth and real-world delivery long before they read every line. This guide demystifies what hiring managers in edge computing look for first in your application — so you can tailor your CV, portfolio and cover letter to jump out of the stack. Whether you’re targeting edge systems roles, embedded IoT edge jobs, edge-native data roles, edge platform engineering or edge-AI positions, this checklist will help you position your experience in a way hiring managers can trust immediately.
