Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer


An established engineering business, specialising in innovative mechanical solutions, is looking for a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. This is an amazing entry–level position that will give you autonomy to run your own projects and get creative with your mechanical designs.


As a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer, you will gain hands–on experience across a wide range of disciplines, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, managing projects from concept through to production. You will create 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and project documentation while collaborating with colleagues across multiple departments.


Key Skills and Qualities:

  • Degree or HNC in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with fabrication, welding, or sheet metal desirable
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design software
  • Knowledge of different manufacturing techniques
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Highly motivated and eager to learn

Responsibilities:

  • As a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer, design and develop cost–effective solutions across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Perform engineering calculations and cost estimates to validate concepts
  • Optimise designs to suit available manufacturing processes
  • Conduct cost–reduction exercises through redesign of components or sub–assemblies
  • Integrate existing product ranges with proprietary sub–systems to produce complete solutions
  • Produce CAD models, 2D drawings, bills of materials, and hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical diagrams
  • Maintain project documentation and technical manuals
  • Carry out physical testing where requiredSupport international engineering teams, collaborating with colleagues in the USA and France when necessary
