First Contact Practitioner - Physiotherapist
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP) to join our dynamic and expanding team. This role is crucial in providing direct access to musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy for patients without the need for prior GP referral. As an FCP, you will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of MSK conditions, contributing to improved patient outcomes and the efficient management of care pathways.
The ideal candidate will have significant clinical expertise in MSK physiotherapy and be passionate about delivering high-quality patient care. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of integrated care, directly impacting the way MSK services are delivered within the community.
Main duties of the job
- To work as autonomous MSK practitioner , using your expertknowledge of (MSK) issues, to create stronger links for wider MSK servicesthrough clinical leadership, teaching and evaluation skills.
- To assess, diagnose, and manage patients, takingresponsibility for the management of a complex caseload etc.
- Request investigations (such as x- rays and blood tests) andreferrals to facilitate diagnosis and choice of treatment regime, understandingthe limitations of investigations, interpret and act on results and feedback toaid diagnosis and the management plans of patients.
- To develop integrated and tailored care programmes in partnershipwith patients and provide a range of first line treatment options, includingself[1]management andreferral to physiotherapy services and social prescribing provision.
- To developrelationships and a collaborative working approach across the PCN supportingthe integration of pathways in primary care.
- Working closely with local secondary care MSK services,community care MSK services and social and community interventions as required, tosupport the management of patients in primary care.
- Communicate effectively and appropriately, with patients andother services regarding diagnosis, pathology, prognosis and treatment choicessupporting personalised care.

Experience
- Minimum 3 years postgraduate experience in MSK out patient
- Working within primary care in GP practices
- Working within primary care in GP practices or MSK Triage services
Qualifications
- BSc in Physiotherapy or Equivalent
- MSc Physiotherapy/Musculoskeletal/Orthopaedics
