We are seeking a motivated, highly skilled First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP)to join our friendly, forward-thinking primary care team. This is an exciting opportunity to work autonomously at thefirstpoint ofcontactfor MSK patients, delivering expert assessment, diagnosis, and management within a supportive Training GP practice environment

You will may work across our two surgery sites:

Tandon Medical Centre, 105 Kent Street, Upper Gornal, Dudley DY3 1UX

Horseley Heath Surgery, 14 Horseley Heath, Tipton DY4 7QU

Together, we care for 11,300+ patients within a diverse population.This is a part time role (1 day a week)with flexible options: a full day or two half days. Friday is preferred, but alternative arrangements can be discussed.The role can be offered as direct employment or self-employed.

Main duties of the job

Act as the first-contact clinician for patients presenting with MSK conditions.

Independently assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of MSK presentations (including complex cases).

Use advanced clinical reasoning to identify red flags, rule out serious pathology, and determine best pathways of care.

Request and interpret investigations (e.g. X-ray, MRI, blood tests) in line with local policies and under appropriate supervision where required.

Develop personalised self-management plans and support behaviour change to optimise recovery and reduce reliance on pharmacological options.

Make direct referrals to orthopaedics, rheumatology, pain services, physiotherapy, and other relevant services.

Maintain accurate, timely clinical records in line with HCPC and organisational standards.

Work as an integral member of the practice MDT alongside GPs, nurses, pharmacists, and administrative teams.

Attend MDT meetings and support development of effective, streamlined MSK pathways.

Contribute to quality improvement, service redesign, and clinical audits.

Support delivery of public health initiatives including weight management, smoking cessation, and physical activity promotion.

Professional Development

Maintain an active CPD portfolio aligned to the MSK Core Capabilities Framework.

Participate in supervision and reflective practice.

Demonstrate strong commitment to personal and service development.

Uphold HCPC, CSP, and practice policies and standards.

Person SpecificationQualifications
  • BSc Physiotherapy & HCPC registration
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
  • Evidence of MSK physiotherapy experience
  • FCP-level competency portfolio or working towards Roadmap Stage 1 & 2
  • Injection therapy qualification
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification or working towards
  • Postgraduate MSK or advanced practice training (Level 7 modules)
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years MSK clinical experience
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage complex caseloads
  • Experience requesting and interpreting MSK diagnostics
  • Prior experience as an FCP in primary care
  • Experience using EMIS or SystmOne
  • Experience in service improvement or audit
