Job Description

We're seeking an experienced Mechanical Field Service Engineer to install, maintain and support large CNC and manual milling machinery across the UK. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can hit the ground running with minimal training and travel regularly, including occasional overseas work.

Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and fault-find on large CNC and manual milling machinery.
  • Deliver reactive and preventative maintenance across customer sites nationwide.
  • Access machinery safely, including working at height and entering machine pits.
  • Support engineering best practice, ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety requirements.
  • Identify potential service opportunities while on site and represent the business professionally.
  • Travel across the UK (from South Wales to the Scottish border) and occasionally overseas for 2-3 week periods.
  • Work both independently and as part of a small engineering team.

Profile

The Successful Candidate

  • Experienced working on large machine tools, including CNC and manual milling machinery.
  • Strong mechanical fitting and diagnostic skills, with ability to interpret mechanical, hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Competent in gearbox assembly, bevel gear meshing and machine tool alignment.
  • Holds a recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (preferred).
  • Comfortable travelling, staying away from home and working across varied customer environments.
  • Strong communicator with excellent organisation, problem-solving skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Full UK driving licence (clean preferred).
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office).

  • £46,000 basic salary plus overtime: 1? weekdays, 1½ Saturdays, 2× Sundays.
