Overview

We are recruiting for an Estates Maintenance Worker Specialist who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. The role is busy and varied, working as part of the Mechanical team and the maintenance team, and involves managing your own workload. You will liaise with people within your department and around the Trust sites. The core values of Include, Respect, and Improve should guide your work and recruitment process.

  • The Lister Hospital, Stevenage
  • New Queen Elizabeth II (New QEII), Welwyn Garden City
  • Hertford County, Hertford
  • Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC), Northwood

Responsibilities
  • Attend maintenance requests and on‑call urgent call outs.
  • Complete weekly Planned Maintenance work orders.
  • Carrying out maintenance and installation work on facilities, plant and equipment throughout the Trust Estate, with minimum supervision.
  • Deputise for the Team Leader in their absence and provide technical engineering advice and support for maintenance of equipment, fabric, and utility services.
  • Work across East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust sites and commute between hospital sites as required (mileage allowance paid).
Qualifications and requirements
  • Technician with a mechanical or plumbing background.
  • Ability to liaise with colleagues across departments and sites.
  • Willingness to be involved in maintenance as part of a busy and varied role.
