Engineering Manager - Advanced Mechanical Systems - Trafford Park

What You Need:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
  • Significant experience in mechanical design within a complex engineering or scientific environment
  • Proven experience leading and developing engineering design teams
  • Strong CAD capability (Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, NX or similar)
  • Experience overseeing full design lifecycle through to installation and commissioning
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, schedules and resources
  • Ability to coordinate multiple concurrent projects in a fast‑paced environment

Role & Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for Engineering Design and ICT activities across multiple UK sites
  • Allocate design resource across concurrent projects and define realistic programme timelines
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of engineering design through installation, commissioning and training
  • Develop and implement engineering design methodologies, tools and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Conduct regular buildability reviews in collaboration with production teams
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant design, safety and ICT standards
  • Provide technical leadership, line management and mentoring to the engineering team
  • Support business development activity with technical input, cost estimates and programme advice
  • Contribute to senior management reporting and strategic planning
