Children's Physiotherapy Technician - CFHD

We are excited to be advertising for a 0.7 wte (26.15 hours)Band 3 Physiotherapytechnician within the Physical and Sensory Torbay and South.

We are keen to hear from individuals interested in supporting our children and young people with a variety of physical difficulties in the community, including at our outpatient centre, specialist schools, mainstream schools and homes.

Main duties of the job

To assist physiotherapists in the treatment and care of children referred to the service and to liaise and communicate appropriately with carers, parents and professionals. To work under the direction of a physiotherapist but frequently to work without direct supervision at Special Schools and in the community.

To be part of the Children’s Physiotherapy team supporting the physiotherapy service.

To deliver treatment and progress treatment plans within school and community settings using a variety of modalities, including hydrotherapy. To order, monitor, adjust and maintain specialist equipment.

To disseminate physiotherapy treatment programmes by educating carers to carry out exercises and use equipment competently.

To assist physiotherapists in delivery of specialist clinics and services including wheelchair, orthopaedic and postural care clinics.

To support non-clinical activities including use of IT, data input, compiling documents, maintaining databases, ordering equipment and assisting the maintenance and efficient running of the service.

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon.

CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health which are provided by Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust and Devon Partnership Trust. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure we deliver locality and county-wide based integrated access to all of our services.

CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinical training placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake postgraduate training.

Our integrated care and treatment has been developed and refined in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers.

Person SpecificationExperience
  • Flexible and adaptable approach
  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Experience supporting therapy programmes or experience supporting people with a disability
  • Knowledge of disability, therapy approaches or healthcare
  • Previous physiotherapy support work
Qualifications
  • Good standard of education to GCSE Level (or equivalent)
  • NVQ Level 3 in related subject, or relevant experience
  • Qualifications in child health subjects
