Salary: £44,485 – £52,521 pa pro‑rate inclusive of HCAS.

We offer a dynamic, 12‑month maternity cover position for a highly motivated, forward‑thinking physiotherapist who is passionate about paediatric care. The role focuses on delivering specialist physiotherapy to children and young people (aged 0‑19) across community settings – home, children’s centres and educational settings – with additional work at two special educational needs provisions.


Main duties of the job

  • Conduct comprehensive specialist assessments for a varied caseload, including complex presentations and MSK/developmental concerns.
  • Formulate individual physiotherapy management plans in partnership with parents/carers and the child.
  • Provide specialist advice to multidisciplinary teams – other therapies, child psychologists, health visitors, GPs, social care professionals, and education services.
  • Supervise, delegate, and teach physiotherapy assistants and students.
  • Embed physiotherapy management principles in the child’s learning, play, and care environments.
  • Advise on Education Health Care Plans.
  • Manage clinical priorities for a varied child caseload.
  • Assess suitability and facilitate provision of specialist postural control equipment.
  • Monitor new equipment developments, pilot new devices, and liaise with manufacturers.

Person specification
Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognised training establishment.
  • Registration with HCPC.
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.
  • Member of the APCP.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of postural management, equipment and orthotics.
  • Strong prioritisation, delegation and time‑management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Current UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
  • Experience supervising physiotherapy assistants and students.

Training

  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Evidence of paediatric courses: Baby Bobath, Paediatric MSK, Neuro‑muscular conditions, Hypermobility.

Experience

  • Post‑graduate experience in a paediatric setting.
  • Understanding of safeguarding children.
  • Knowledge of the EHCP process and reporting.
  • Wide variety of paediatric experience – MSK, respiratory, etc.
