Location

Location of the Job: Devon - South West of England.


Salary and Benefits

Additional information

This is a permanent, full-time position.


Monday to Friday with weekend availability as required.


Offering 40 - 60 hours per week.

A well-established and family-oriented vegetable growing and packing business.


The Job Role Details

As Agricultural Mechanic and Fitter, you will work on the maintenance and servicing of equipment in the fresh produce washing and packing facilities, as well as working with a range of agricultural harvesters and cultivation machinery on farm.


This is a hands-on role requiring technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance and inspections on a variety of equipment, including fresh food and produce equipment and agricultural machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues, replacing faulty components as needed.
  • Conduct functionality tests to ensure smooth operation.
  • Weld, fabricate, and assemble parts to meet operational needs.
  • Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively to complete repairs and servicing tasks.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar role, such as Mechanic or Maintenance Engineer.
  • Experience in the agricultural, farming or fresh produce sectors.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and technical aptitude.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and technical diagrams/manuals.
  • Skilled in welding, assembly, and fabrication work.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well within a team environment.
