Salary:£21,257.50 (£24,784.50 FTE)

Due to positive developments within our staff team we have the opportunity for an Academic Co-ordinator to join our amazing team at Quorn Hall School.

Overview of the role:

To be responsible for the monitoring, assessing and provision of targeted academic interventions for pupils in numeracy and literacy. Adjusting academic interventions to meet the needs and interests of learners with SEMH difficulties. To lead on reading across the school and support diagnostic assessments.

Responsibilities include:
* Oversee the planning and implementation of literacy and numeracy 1 to 1 and small group interventions, with a focus on phonics, comprehension and functional skills.
* Use data to identify pupils in need and plan when their interventions will take place.
* Undertake initial diagnostic assessments with pupils where a learning need has been identified, such as dyslexia screening, overlay needs assessment or as directed by SENDCo/Therapy team.
* Liaise with SENDCo to ensure pupils are working towards their EHCP outcomes.
* Maintain the library, ensuring it is well presented with appropriate stock.
* Arrange activities, rewards and incentives relating to reading e.g. readathons, World Book Day, Accelerated Reader
* Contribute to whole school monitoring and reporting systems to analyse impact of interventions and work with the staff team to adjust interventions accordingly.

Working as part of a highly trained and therapeutic staff team the successful candidate will be influential in having a positive impact upon the lives of children who have a range of needs, life experiences and personalities that make every day varied and interesting. You will be able to promote curriculum engagement and positive behaviour support by establishing positive relationships with our pupils and using a range of strategies to promote engagement to learning.

Experience and Qualifications
* Minimum of 1 years' experience working with children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs or Autism Spectrum Conditions. Alternatively, you will have similar experience in an educational / residential / social work / youth work or other similar setting.
* Knowledge and understanding of working with young people with social, emotional and mental health needs as well as autism spectrum conditions
* Good literacy and numeracy skills
* Experience of supporting the development of social skills with learners with ASC and SEMH
* Desirable qualifications include, HLTA or Autism qualification
