Specialist Physiotherapist - Long Term Ventilation

This is an opportunity to join the North West Ventilation Service specialist team. The role will involve using your skills to support patients with non invasive ventilation, tracheostomy ventilation and cough assist. The role is rotational, you will be working on the North West Ventilation Unit, outpatients department and in the community. The team also works across many sites in the hospital, including ICU. You will be working within a large MDT to ensure optimal care is provided for each individual. You will be involved in end of life care for this patient cohort. Teaching and education is also an important part of the role.


Responsibilities

  • Assess and review respiratory, ventilation and cough status
  • NIV/Tracheostomy ventilation/Cough assist/suction/high flow set up
  • Ability to undertake all relevant investigations (e.g. oximetry, Tosca, ELBGs, ventilation cloud downloads)
  • Interpretation of all tests/investigations in relation to ventilation patients
  • Participate in training and education to patients, carers and all staff of all grades
  • Autonomous working in clinics, the community, hospital settings (including NWVU/ICU/wards)
  • Clean driving licence and car for working in the community/across the region
  • MDT working
  • Willingness to learn and become proficient within the role with specialist knowledge and skills
  • Supervision of students/staff/new starters
  • Support peers, seniors and junior staff as required
  • Provide specialist assisted transport journeys with patients
