Overview

We are looking for a dynamic & enthusiastic individual to join our team in North East Essex within the field of Physiotherapy. We are seeking an experienced Band 5 who is ready to transition into a rotational Band 6 post or established Band 6s looking for a new challenge.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the current rotations in North East Essex, which include Critical Care, Acute Respiratory Care Unit, Surgical Wards, Medical Respiratory (adult & Paediatric), Oncology, General Medical wards, Elderly wards, Emergency Medicine, Stroke Unit, Trauma Orthopaedics and the new Elective Orthopaedic Centre at Colchester Hospital, along with community rotations in Neuro rehabilitation, MSK outpatients, Community hospitals & Community Respiratory.
  • Work on the inpatient respiratory on-call rota and participate in a 7-day working pattern as required.
  • Be part of an Integrated Therapy team with Physiotherapists & Occupational Therapists, providing integrated assessment and discharge planning to clients.
  • Complete a competency framework to enable participation in the annual Band 6 rotational scheme, including rapid assessment, discharge facilitation, specialist rehabilitation, falls prevention and specialist inpatient services in Critical Care, Stroke, Neurology & Respiratory care.
  • Perform safe, evidenced-based physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical & psychological conditions, delivering an individualised treatment programme from a range of options.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments using clinical reasoning and manual assessment techniques to assist in diagnosis and formulate treatment plans and discharge plans aligned with patients’ personal goals and objectives.
  • Manage your own caseload and a defined area of the service, initially with supervision and progressing towards working without direct supervision; supervision includes regular formal training, clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and one-to-one assessments.
  • Remain professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work, including issues around consent and capacity.
  • Demonstrate experience in discharge planning and skills in identifying needs for adaptive equipment.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Experience as a Band 5 physiotherapist with readiness to transition to Band 6 rotational work, or an established Band 6 seeking a new challenge.
  • Willingness to participate in 7-day working patterns and inpatient respiratory on-call duties.
  • Capability to complete and engage with the competency framework for Band 6 rotational participation and associated responsibilities.
  • Ability to perform comprehensive assessments, formulate treatment plans, and contribute to discharge planning, considering patient goals and objectives.
  • Experience in discharge planning and identifying needs for adaptive equipment.
