Job responsibilities
JOBPURPOSE
To undertake specific skilledsupport work to aid the rehabilitation of patients.
To accept patients referred by aphysiotherapist and carry own patient caseload.
Assess and treat patients accordingto set protocols with responsibility for planning, prioritising andorganising this caseload appropriately monitoring patient progression andmaking alterations to patient treatments programmes as required.
Work unsupervised reporting backpatient progress and informing the referring practitioner of any non-routineproblems or enquiries
To undertake administrative dutiesincluding ordering of equipment, daily stats, arranging patient follow upappointments etc
3. JOB DIMENSIONS
Thepost holder will be based within the MSK in patient physiotherapy service andmay work on a variety of wards.
Dayto day supervisory support, and overall management will be provided to thepost holder by physiotherapy staff.

Clinical
Assist the therapy staff in therehabilitation of patients using a range of delegated therapy treatments
To manage the rehabilitation ofpatients as delegated by the therapist this will involve working withoutdirect progress, progressing treatment as appropriate within set protocolsand reporting back to the referring therapist.
Treat patients individually or in agroup in a variety of settings without the direct supervision of a therapiste.g. in the department or ward. To undertake highly skilled support work e.g.mobility assessments where analysis of gait/stability is necessary to decideon appropriate prescription of walking aid or how best to progressrehabilitation
Encouraging patients and theircarers in an active approach to regaining and maintaining personalindependence. This requires empathy sensitivity and good interpersonal skills

i) PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Frequently throughout the day there will bea requirement to undertake moderate physical activity lasting approximately30 - 60 minutes e.g. treatment sessions involving transferring, manoeuvringand mobilising of patients.
Therapeutictreatment sessions may require this post holder to undertake moving andhandling tasks with patients where mechanical aids are not practical orappropriate
