Senior Physiotherapist - Plastics and Reconstructive Therapy
We are seeking an experienced senior Physiotherapist with specialist knowledge and skills in post-operative rehabilitation following Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery + Hand Surgery in addition to the acute physiotherapy management of Trauma, Head and Neck surgery, Breast reconstruction, Burns and acquired hand conditions. You will be crucial to developing and transforming our services and care pathways, providing clinical leadership to ensure provision of excellent patient care. You will work alongside and gain peer support from other senior staff within the team and department.
The therapy team has excellent working relationships with the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Head and Neck and Trauma and Orthopaedic multi-disciplinary teams as well as the other therapy teams at NNUH. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work in both inpatient and outpatient settings across all areas of the specialty.
Post holders will be included in the Physiotherapy Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in-patient weekend roster to fulfil the 7-day working commitments required for this post. There will also be a requirement to participate in the On-call rota.
WE CAN NOT accommodate alternative date or remote interviews as there will be a practical element to the interview process.
Main duties of the job
To assess, prioritise and manage own caseload of in and outpatients determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated, and maintain records as a legally autonomous practitioner. Patient presentation may be complex/highly complex.
To train, supervise and monitor other physiotherapists, therapy assistant practitioners, assistants and students on placement, with appropriate support.
To provide clinical leadership within the specialties including educational, professional and managerial guidance.
To have an active role in the planning, development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the physiotherapy service provided to patients within and outreaching from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
To deputise for the Physiotherapy Operational Lead/ Senior Physiotherapy staff as required.

- Work will be undertaken without direct supervision. Clinical/professional supervision may take the form of formal training, clinical reasoning sessions and occasional direct observation of practice. Advice and support is always available.

- To have an active role in the planning, development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the physiotherapy service provided to patients within and out-reaching from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Person SpecificationQualifications
- Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy
- Registration with the Health Professions Council (UK)
Experience
- Significant postgraduate experience as a Physiotherapist in a post with broad-based rotational opportunities. Candidates should have experience in all core areas, however those offering less experience, but meeting all other criteria, will be considered on their merit
- Student or physiotherapy assistant direct supervision
- Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues
- Contributing to clinical education/development of less experienced staff, students or assistants
Skills
- Ability to demonstrate good written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills
