Senior Pharmacy Technician Medicines Procurement and Homecare – Band 5, 37.5 hours per week. Based at Royal Stoke Hospital, Newcastle Road, Stoke on Trent, ST4 6QG. Employer: University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

Responsibilities
  • Support the medicines procurement functions, including liaising with suppliers, other departments and external customers.
  • Co-ordinate the operational management of the Pharmacy Procurement & Homecare service; ensure adequate staffing levels and skill mix; escalation where necessary.
  • Supervise and line manage staff; ensure implementation and management of contracts; actively develop the Procurement and Homecare service.
  • Liaise with external organisations to facilitate the timely reimbursement process where the supplier has not been able to honour current contractual agreements.
  • Show initiative; be helpful and approachable; be organised and work accurately; possess good IT skills, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Have experience in an administrative role in a similar environment; be willing to work in other areas within pharmacy when required; support the stores area daily.
Essential qualifications
  • NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical Services or National BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent nationally recognised qualification plus accredited underpinning knowledge
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • National Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification
Desirable qualifications
  • Member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK
  • A1 NVQ Assessor Qualification or willing to undertake
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
  • Experience of working within a pharmacy department as a Pharmacy Technician within the last 12 months.
  • Minimum experience - 12 months post qualification.
  • Commitment to professional updating and continuous professional development.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary and/or collaborative working to deliver projects.
  • Experience of working with a Pharmacy computer system e.g. JAC or EMIS (ASCRIBE).
  • Confident with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good analytical and evaluative skills; ability to investigate queries, solve problems and take action as appropriate.
  • Able to coordinate the workload within the team and prioritise activities.
  • Demonstrate IT skills required for this position (e.g., Excel and reporting software).
  • Experience of writing/updating procedures and training documentation.
  • Previous experience of managing stock and supply chain continuity.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace.
Desirable knowledge
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations and risk assessments
  • Knowledge of Good Distribution Practice (GDP)
  • Knowledge of stock management processes
  • Experience of leading and managing a team
Other requirements
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check: post subject to Rehabilitation of Offenders Act; submission to DBS may be required.
  • Certificate of Sponsorship: Skilled worker sponsorship applications considered alongside all other applications; refer to UK Visas and Immigration for details.
