Overview

Due to retirement and internal promotion, there is an exciting opportunity for Band 6 Physiotherapists working up to 37.5 hours to join the Community Paediatric Therapies Service. The post holders will provide Physiotherapy assessment and treatment to children aged 0-19 years including within the specialist educational provision setting. The posts are based at West Acklam Centre with requirement for independent travel around community settings within the Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland region. They involve working within the wider integrated Paediatric Therapies Service which includes the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy teams covering the acute services at The James Cook University Hospital. The post holders will be based in the community, working with children of all ages.

The posts entail working within multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams offering specialist Physiotherapy assessment, intervention and rehabilitation, providing advice where needed to other professionals regarding the children's physical management. The post holders will be members of the Paediatric Therapies Service which includes Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Therapy Support workers and administrative staff. The majority of the team work within the community, however you will also work closely with Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists working within the acute setting at The James Cook University Hospital. We are a friendly, dynamic and supportive team who all work together to provide the best possible outcomes for the children, young people and their families. There will be the opportunity to develop more advanced clinical, leadership and service development skills.

Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment and interventions to children/young people aged 0-19 years old with a variety of conditions, including complex needs, resident within the South Tees region.
  • Travel independently to community settings as part of the role.
  • Work within multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams, offering specialist Physiotherapy assessment, intervention and rehabilitation and providing advice to other professionals regarding the children\'s physical management.
  • Collaborate with parents, educational and other health professionals; work as part of a team and on your own, frequently using your own initiative.
  • Engage in home, nursery and school visits, rehabilitation and education as part of client care.
  • Support the Making Every Contact Count approach to behaviour change in the promotion of health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate experience working within Paediatric Physiotherapy would be advantageous; enthusiasm for working with a wide range of children/young people up to age 19 is essential.
  • Close working with parents, educational and other health professionals is essential.
  • Ability to travel independently is an essential part of the post.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on your own.
