Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our packaging design and innovation team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in plastic manufacturing and injection molding in the consumer goods industry. Experience in cosmetics packaging and consumer goods packaging is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Translate industrial design concepts into functional and manufacturable mechanical solutions, working closely with designers to develop mechanisms, structures, and assemblies that enable product functionality while maintaining design intent.
  • Lead mechanical design and engineering development of plastic injection molded components, including part architecture, mechanisms, tolerances, and assembly logic.
  • Provide technical leadership on design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-tooling (DFT), ensuring designs are optimized for injection molding, tooling performance, cost, and high-volume production.
  • Work directly with manufacturing partners and factory engineering teams to resolve production challenges, including tooling, process, and part quality issues, and to implement design, process, or mold improvements.
  • Review and approve part, assembly, and mold designs, ensuring proper application of GD&T, material selection, draft, wall thickness, shut-offs, undercuts, and moldability best practices.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities across design, tooling, and molding processes to improve product performance, yield, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for molding and functional issues, working cross‑functionally to implement sustainable technical solutions.
  • Support tooling development, mold trials, and production ramp‑up, including sample test, functional validation, and production approvals.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Supports the development of design and engineering team members by providing constructive technical feedback and insight.
  • 3D printing and prototyping new concepts and ideas to validate design and engineering solutions.
  • Participates in the early stages of new projects and briefs with Sales & Marketing teams to help ensure deliverables meet business objectives, specifications, regulations etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience in mechanical design and engineering development of plastic injection molded components for high‑volume production environments.
  • Strong technical expertise in plastic injection molding manufacturing.
  • Experience designing functional mechanisms and assemblies.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Tooling (DFT) principles.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and technical drawing standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in mechanical CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks or equivalent), with the ability to develop detailed part and assembly models and production‑ready drawings.
  • Experience in consumer products or cosmetic packaging is highly preferred.

Please note: Qualified candidates are invited to apply through this posting. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted, and applicants who do not receive a response within a reasonable timeframe may assume their application was unsuccessful.

New Edge Computing Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Shaping Edge Innovation

Edge computing is transforming how data is processed by bringing compute power closer to the source of generation. With the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT), real‑time analytics, autonomous systems, and latency‑sensitive applications, edge computing has moved from a niche discipline to a core component of digital infrastructure. In 2026, organisations that specialise in or heavily invest in edge computing are expanding their teams to build distributed systems, real‑time analytics platforms, and edge‑optimised AI. For professionals exploring opportunities on www.EdgeComputingJobs.co.uk , understanding which employers are growing, winning contracts, or securing investment is essential. This article highlights the new and high‑growth edge computing employers to watch in 2026, including UK startups, international innovators with a UK presence, and established companies shifting strategy toward edge.

How Many Edge Computing Tools Do You Need to Know to Get an Edge Computing Job?

If you’re trying to start or grow a career in edge computing, it can feel like you’re navigating a maze of tools, frameworks and platforms — Kubernetes, Docker, IoT frameworks, AWS Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, OpenShift, TinyML toolkits, networking orchestration, real-time streaming frameworks, and on it goes. Scroll job boards and community forums and it’s easy to conclude that unless you master every buzzword imaginable, you’ll never get a job. Here’s the honest truth most edge computing hiring managers won’t necessarily say out loud: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every edge computing tool — they hire you because you can solve real system problems using the tools you know. Tools matter, yes — but only when they support clear outcomes: reliable systems, performance at scale, secure edge deployments and real business value. So how many edge computing tools do you actually need to know to secure a job? For most edge computing roles, the answer is fewer than you think — and a lot clearer when sorted by fundamentals and roles. This guide shows you what matters, what doesn’t, and how to focus your time wisely so you come across as capable, confident and employable.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Edge Computing Job Applications (UK Guide)

In today’s fast-evolving tech landscape, edge computing is one of the most sought-after fields — blending distributed systems, embedded systems, networking, cloud, IoT, data and real-time processing. But that also means hiring managers are highly selective. They scan applications fast and look for signals of relevance, impact, technical depth and real-world delivery long before they read every line. This guide demystifies what hiring managers in edge computing look for first in your application — so you can tailor your CV, portfolio and cover letter to jump out of the stack. Whether you’re targeting edge systems roles, embedded IoT edge jobs, edge-native data roles, edge platform engineering or edge-AI positions, this checklist will help you position your experience in a way hiring managers can trust immediately.
