Role- Senior Mechanical Engineer



Salary- £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)



Type- Permanent



Location- Borehamwood, Hertfordshire



My client is a specialist manufacturer. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a varied skillset to join their team in Borehamwood on a permanent basis.



The Senior Mechanical Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • 2 years or more experience in a similar Mechanical Engineering, Design or Applications Engineering position
  • Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Knowledge of a variety of materials – sheet metal, machined parts etc.
  • Confident speaking to customers and managing projects
  • Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo etc.
  • Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
  • The ability to understand system requirements
  • Be self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
  • Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written



The Senior Mechanical Engineer role will involve:

  • Working on project specifications – creating CAD drawings and preparing cost estimates working off customer requirements
  • Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
  • Writing quotes and other technical details
  • Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
  • Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
  • Checking drawings for sign off
  • Speaking to customers over the phone and delivering proposals
  • Helping to define project schedules
  • Have a good appreciation for using hand tools and basic fabrication methods
  • Working closely with other members of the engineering team
