The Role

To provide engineering design solutions and through life engineering support to the JFD product range and systems, working as a technical lead for the engineering team, Workload can vary from new product design to meet client or internal specifications through to supporting an existing client’s request to upgrade or change equipment in the field.

This role ensures design integrity, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions that meet performance, safety, and manufacturing standards.


Due to the requirements of this role, all candidates must be able to obtain UK Security Clearance.


Principle Accountabilities

  • Provide engineering design input for new systems and products and support the existing product range by resolving technical queries
  • Collaborate with internal departments including sales, supply chain, and production to deliver technically sound and commercially viable solutions
  • Engage with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to offer technical guidance and ensure solutions are robust and meet specifications and project requirements
  • Create and manage part structures, part numbers, and bills of materials, while sourcing appropriate components and materials as needed
  • Generate and review engineering documentation, such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certifications, and detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation
  • Lead the implementation of design changes, ensuring updates are accurately reflected and communicated across relevant documentation and teams
  • Ensure engineering solutions are delivered on time and within budget, complying with internal processes and standards and external regulations
  • Act as technical approver for engineering drawings and documentation generated
  •  Where applicable, potential responsibility for small team leadership, performance management, and mentoring through development plans and competency frameworks


Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent industry background
  • Extensive experience in generating design calculations, specifications, procedures, certification and reporting.
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing techniques and gas and fluid systems
  • Proficient in using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems for the creation and storage of engineering documentation and packages
  • Strong understanding of engineering testing methods, including planning, execution, and analysis
  • Familiarity with key design standards relevant to mechanical engineering
  • Exposure to industry codes and regulations including Lloyd’s Register, DNV, ABS, DEFSTAN, and MIL-STD would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of Pressure Vessel design skills using PD5500, ASME VIII, EN 13445 would be advantageous
  • Hands-on experience with engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS Workbench, MathCAD, or Finglow is advantageous
  • Experience in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks or AutoCAD would be advantageous
  • Diving qualifications or knowledge of diving would be advantageous
