Overview

Amentum is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~£7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services.

The Project

The Sellafield Product and Residue Store Retreatment Plant (SRP) will safely receive all special nuclear material packages from existing storage locations across the Sellafield site before retreating them into new 100-year packages for safe storage. The SRP facility will enable all special nuclear material to remain safe and secure, supporting Sellafield’s purpose to create a clean and safe environment for future generations.

The Role

Senior Mechanical Designer to join the team in Birchwood, Warrington.

Responsibilities
  • Production of computer aided design drawings from concept level through to manufacturing detail, meeting relevant standards and specifications.
  • Ensure design deliverables meet required standards of accuracy and quality, verify drawings, and perform verification of colleagues’ drawings.
  • Deliver mechanical work scope, production and checking, reporting to a Principal Engineer.
  • Produce detail drawings using Inventor / AutoCAD (including GA’s, manufacturing details, layout drawings). Familiarity with Inventor Vault is preferred.
  • Modify and update existing drawings and diagrams as the design matures during testing and manufacture.
Qualifications
  • Qualification to HNC Standard as a minimum in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience and knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Products (AutoCAD, Inventor, RECAP) plus other 3D systems.
  • Competent working within standards and procedures (BS 8888).
  • Experience of working within a highly regulated industry.
