Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Heavy Industrial Equipment

Heavy Engineering | Stress Analysis | 3D CAD

We are recruiting an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering team designing heavy-duty industrial mechanical equipment used in demanding environments.

This role is ideal for a hands-on mechanical engineer with strong fundamentals in mechanical design, stress calculations and heavy machinery.

You will play a key role in the design and development of large mechanical components and assemblies, ensuring designs are robust, manufacturable and capable of operating in high-load industrial applications.

Key Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should have:

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in mechanical design engineering
  • Experience designing industrial machinery or heavy mechanical equipment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Ability to perform manual stress and load calculations
  • Strong experience using 3D CAD for mechanical design
  • Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings and assemblies

Engineers from the following industries are particularly relevant:

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designingindustrial mechanical components and assemblies
  • Producing 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings
  • Carrying out stress, load and strength calculations
  • Designing for manufacture, reliability and performance
  • Supporting product development and engineering improvements
  • Working closely with manufacturing and engineering teams

CAD systems used include NX, Inventor and AutoCAD.

This is an on-site engineering role within a manufacturing and engineering environment.

Engineers are expected to be comfortable working on-site five days per week, collaborating closely with production and engineering teams.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

Unfortunately visa sponsorship is not available, therefore candidates requiring sponsorship cannot be considered.

This Role May Not Be Suitable For
  • Graduate or junior engineers with limited industry experience
  • Candidates with CAD-only backgrounds without mechanical engineering analysis experience
  • Engineers from consumer product, plastics or light product design industries
The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to work on real mechanical engineering challenges, designing robust equipment used in demanding industrial environments.

New Edge Computing Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Shaping Edge Innovation

Edge computing is transforming how data is processed by bringing compute power closer to the source of generation. With the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT), real‑time analytics, autonomous systems, and latency‑sensitive applications, edge computing has moved from a niche discipline to a core component of digital infrastructure. In 2026, organisations that specialise in or heavily invest in edge computing are expanding their teams to build distributed systems, real‑time analytics platforms, and edge‑optimised AI. For professionals exploring opportunities on www.EdgeComputingJobs.co.uk , understanding which employers are growing, winning contracts, or securing investment is essential. This article highlights the new and high‑growth edge computing employers to watch in 2026, including UK startups, international innovators with a UK presence, and established companies shifting strategy toward edge.

How Many Edge Computing Tools Do You Need to Know to Get an Edge Computing Job?

If you’re trying to start or grow a career in edge computing, it can feel like you’re navigating a maze of tools, frameworks and platforms — Kubernetes, Docker, IoT frameworks, AWS Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, OpenShift, TinyML toolkits, networking orchestration, real-time streaming frameworks, and on it goes. Scroll job boards and community forums and it’s easy to conclude that unless you master every buzzword imaginable, you’ll never get a job. Here’s the honest truth most edge computing hiring managers won’t necessarily say out loud: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every edge computing tool — they hire you because you can solve real system problems using the tools you know. Tools matter, yes — but only when they support clear outcomes: reliable systems, performance at scale, secure edge deployments and real business value. So how many edge computing tools do you actually need to know to secure a job? For most edge computing roles, the answer is fewer than you think — and a lot clearer when sorted by fundamentals and roles. This guide shows you what matters, what doesn’t, and how to focus your time wisely so you come across as capable, confident and employable.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Edge Computing Job Applications (UK Guide)

In today’s fast-evolving tech landscape, edge computing is one of the most sought-after fields — blending distributed systems, embedded systems, networking, cloud, IoT, data and real-time processing. But that also means hiring managers are highly selective. They scan applications fast and look for signals of relevance, impact, technical depth and real-world delivery long before they read every line. This guide demystifies what hiring managers in edge computing look for first in your application — so you can tailor your CV, portfolio and cover letter to jump out of the stack. Whether you’re targeting edge systems roles, embedded IoT edge jobs, edge-native data roles, edge platform engineering or edge-AI positions, this checklist will help you position your experience in a way hiring managers can trust immediately.
