Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Building Services (HVAC)

Location: Cambridge (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum
Job Type: Permanent


An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading building services engineering consultancy based in Cambridge.


This role offers the chance to work on a range of high-profile building services projects, supporting the delivery of innovative and sustainable mechanical design solutions across multiple sectors.


The successful Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will play a key role in project delivery, technical design and team collaboration, contributing to the development of efficient and technically robust building services systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Producing mechanical building services designs for a variety of projects
  • Developing HVAC system designs, calculations and specifications
  • Supporting project delivery across multiple RIBA design stages
  • Producing technical drawings and design documentation
  • Collaborating with electrical engineers, structural engineers and architects
  • Supporting BIM coordination and multidisciplinary design integration
  • Ensuring designs comply with industry standards, regulations and project requirements
  • Assisting with project delivery within programme and budget targets

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Mechanical Design Engineer within building services
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical design principles
  • Experience delivering projects across multiple RIBA stages
  • Experience working within consultancy or multidisciplinary engineering environments
  • Ability to produce design calculations and technical documentation
  • Strong communication and coordination skills

Desirable

  • Experience using Revit or BIM software
  • Progression towards or achievement of Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
