Your new role In this role as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, your main purpose is the mechanical design and detailing of high-precision new parts, sub-assemblies and customer solutions for our Imaging & Analysis products. * Design and delivery of mechanical designs using 3D CAD. Documentation of designs, their prototyping and validation, facilitating design reviews, and delivery through operations to customers. * Specify and document designs including, requirement specifications, layouts, detail & assembly drawings, Bills Of Material, etc. * Provide innovative, robust and scalable solutions to complex technical problems. * Developing customer specific requests, working alongside application specialists & end users directly. Conduct feasibility assessments, detail designs and build guidance for the production team. * Supporting other members of the Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing teams. * Create detailed project plans with accurate task estimates and project delivery dates. * Provide technical support to Supply Chain, Operations, and Customers, as required. * Support critical investigations with internal partners. * Work closely with Supply Chain and suppliers during the specification and procurement of mechanical parts. * Investigate and implement ways to improve and optimise working practices (e.g. research and recommend new technologies and processes) * Assist Engineering Management with development and implementation of physical design strategy, processes and best practices. * Work with Product management and Sales teams to ensure designs meet customer requirements while seeking creative, low-cost mechanical designs. What you'll need to succeed Sc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline, or equivalent qualification iMechE IEng accredited (desirable) Minimum 5 years' experience in product development MSc/MEng in Mechanical Engineering (desirable) Third-level qualification in Manufacturing Engineering (desirable) SolidWorks Certified: CSWA / CSWP Designing precise, tight-tolerance mechanisms Tolerance analysis Designing for long-term stability (vibration, thermal effects, etc.) Designing for regulatory approval (EMC, MD, Safety, LVD) DfX implementation Prototype build and assessment Documenting designs with detailed assembly instructions Revision control of drawings and documents Developing budgets and cost estimates What you'll get in return Competitive salary up to £50k Flexible working hours Exceptional benefits package Early finish on Fridays What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.
