Role: 1xSenior Mechanical Design Engineer and 1x mechanical design engineer

Location: Warrington Based Between Manchester + Liverpool

Salary: £competitive + company bonus


The ideal person will have experience in aerospace, defence or motorsport or be a senior designer who demonstrable experience with motors, gearboxes, brakes and associated mechanics.


The Role:


To assist the technical team with the development, design and test of new engineering projects to deliver solutions to bespoke project applications. To provide internal technical support to sales to assist in technical elements with regards to quoting new project opportunities, and also provide external aftermarket support to customers to assist with on-site commissioning and technical issues that may arise during product lifetime.



MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Collaborate within the technical team to develop innovative ideas and concept designs to develop solutions to new project applications.
  • Research and Development on all products to improve the knowledge of the technical team and understand the benefits and limitations of the products.
  • Working with internal sales to provide technical assistance to new enquiries and to provide sizing calculations and technical knowledge to help provide the most efficient solutions to project enquiries.
  • Taking ownership of customer issues reported and seeing problems through to resolution by researching, diagnosing, troubleshooting and identifying solutions to resolve application issues.
  • Working closely with customers to quickly understand the root of problem and talking clients through a series of actions, either via phone or email to effectively solve a technical issue.
  • Where applicable, travel to customer sites to provide on-site commissioning and customer training, as well as aftermarket technical support.
  • Assist the Technical Manager to plan, co-ordinate and review the work of the department to ensure the most effective use is made of resources.
  • Ensure effective and regular communication with staff, contractors, customers and suppliers to facilitate the smooth operation.
  • Represent the company with stakeholders, suppliers and customers, and build constructive relationships to help further the work and reputation.
  • Any other activity that is reasonably requested.

  • Proficient in CAD software of industry standard offering (for example Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo etc.)
  • Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office
  • Able to use Sage to support the job role.
  • Able to use Salesforce (CRM) to support the job role
  • Flexible and the willingness to travel




Experience:



  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineer role
  • Advanced analytical problem-solving skills with a proactive and independent approach
  • Knowledge of modelling in 3D CAD and creation of full tolerance 2D drawings is essential (knowledge of Autodesk Inventor is desirable but not required)
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team but with the confidence to provide solutions when working alone
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Confidence to work closely with external customers and suppliers
  • Good understanding and use of Microsoft systems





WORKING HOURS


This position will be full time, 37 hours per week – Monday-Thursday 9 - 5pm, Friday 9 - 3pm.

This role is available with flexible working and further company benefits. The ability to work-off site with the possibility of overnight stays away from home on occasion may be required.
