At Quest Global, UK, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer with geared transmission systems and components experience to join our team based in Huddersfield.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out detail design activities to meet the requirements of design for manufacture.

CAD activities including conceptual design, 3D and 2D modelling.

Create component and complex assembly drawings. Drawing and technical documentation checking.

BOM and gear data generation and engineering change control processing.

Manufacturing drawings generation with a clear understanding and application of Design for Manufacture principles.

Create deliverable documentation including Manuals, Installation and Maintenance instructions as necessary.


Work Experience and Required Skills (Technical Competency)

Strong core design skills with first principal methodologies.

Candidate should be familiar with structural design practices and methodologies, including hand calculations to support design.

Experience in designing mechanical components, parts, assemblies and subassemblies for heavy industry, power transmission systems, gear and Gear box.

Knowledge about subsystems that impact the mechanical design / layout of the design.

Solid Edge proficient in 3D modelling and drawing.

Ability to interpret and create high quality engineering CAD models and manufacturing drawings, including GD&T.


Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.

5 years or more in an engineering design role / environment involving rotating machinery.

Experience in heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, gears and gear box.

Appreciation of bolted joint analysis, shock assessment in relation to geared transmission systems.

Strong knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).

Proficient in root cause analysis and failure mode analysis techniques.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
