Location – Fareham
Type – Permanent – Full-time
Salary – £45,000 - £60,000

Overview:

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our client’s business which specialises in - computers, racks, rack integration, tablets, technology, engineering, manufacturing, electro-mechanical, sheet metal, wireless sensors, defence, automation, communications, energy, transport, healthcare, edge computing, and micro data-centres.

The successful candidate must show flexibility & willingness to adapt to the needs of an SME size business and meet the following requirements:
 
Experience:
Essential

An established electrical design engineer, who has extensive experience across a range of projects in accordance with a variety of compliance standards.
Experience of original Electrical Design? (If the answer is yes, then please ensure it is evidence on your CV, particularly if you are the Design Authority).
Experience of designing AC and DC systems for a variety of markets including complex markets with strict standard such as defence.
Experience of designing cable and connector assemblies for highly regulated industries.
Experience in computing or rack based electrical hardware design.
Experience of designing power management systems.
Has previous been a design authority on as significant project and actively works to develop organisational capability.

Desirable

Experience of working on:
Low voltage DC power and communication circuits.
Low and Medium voltage AC power systems.
Electrical safety assessment against IEC 62368.

Skills

Essential
Use of best practices for the design of electrical hardware solutions from concept to production. Including:

Ability to translate customers’ requirements from a statement of work into designs that satisfy the requirements specification.
Experience in design for manufacture and testing.
Ability to simulate, prototype, conduct experiments, analyse and interpret test data.
Ability to generate and review relevant design documentation.
Component selection and bill of material creation.
Experience with electrical drawing software, preferably SolidWorks Electrical or similar.

Desirable
Experience of working with:

BS EN Standards such as 62368 and 61010 (Safety) and Military specs (Def-Stan).
EMC and regulatory requirements (CE/UKCA).
ISO 9001 standard or a professional and process driven methodology.
RF design.
Computing infrastructure

Education:

At least an HNC/HND Electrical Engineering qualification, however a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering would be preferred.
Security Clearance:

BPSS Security Clearance must be attainable.
Interview process:

1st interview 30-minute teams and if invited to follow up this will be 1.5-hour face-face.
Please also note that as part of the interview process, candidates will be required to bring in Electrical Designs that they have designed themselves.  They will be asked to speak through these designs and answer any challenges they may have faced or what their thoughts were behind them.

Do you experience of original Electrical Design? (If the answer is yes, then please ensure it is evidence on their CV, particularly if they are the Design Authority)
Do you have experience of designing low voltage AC and DC systems?
Do you have experience of designing cable and connector assemblies for highly regulated industries?
Do you have experience in computing or rack based electrical hardware design?
Do you have experience of designing power management systems?
