Overview

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Fellow to join our Anaesthetics team here at The Essex Cardiothoracic Center, Basildon. If successful, you will have the opportunity to work and support a variety of cardiothoracic services across the centre. We are a supportive team and we aim to reflect your interests in your job plan, including sub-specialist interests such as Cardiac ITU, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, enhanced recovery and neuro-prognostication.

Responsibilities

Main duties of the job. If successful, some of your duties will be to:

  • Support consultants in cardiothoracic operations and cath lab procedures
  • Ward round, admission, and discharge
  • Attend OHCA calls in the cath labs and plan management
  • Assist consultants in managing post-cardiac surgery and complex cardiology patients in the ITU
  • Attend MDT and neuro prognostic team meetings
  • Cardiovascular support (IABP, CCO etc), advanced respiratory support and renal replacement therapy
  • Invasive monitoring lines insertion – arterial lines, CVP, vascular access (Vascath)
  • Bedside transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and transoesophageal echocardiography
  • Accompany out-of-hours work managing wards, theatres, ITU and cathlabs
