Reliability Engineer
Location: Wimborne, Dorset or Titchfield, Hampshire

About the Company

My client's Aerospace division is a global leader in aerospace fuel systems, delivering fully integrated solutions for both fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft.

The facility specialises in cutting-edge air-to-air refuelling systems, refuelling probes, and advanced air-to-air and air-to-ground launch systems using pneumatic and pyrotechnic technologies, alongside a range of Defensive Aids Sub-Systems.

With over 80 years of industry experience, my client is recognised worldwide as the leading provider of air-to-air refuelling systems, offering fifth-generation solutions to Air Forces globally.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Reliability Engineer to join the Mission Systems Division (MSD), working closely with project teams to ensure products meet the stringent standards required for aerospace certification.

You'll be responsible for producing and analysing reliability documentation required for certification-critical to ensuring that equipment can safely fly. The work is highly analytical and data-driven, often involving large data sets, detailed reporting, and collaboration across design, safety, and airworthiness teams.

Projects can vary in length-from short, focused tasks to large, complex programmes that run for several months-offering variety and exposure to multiple areas of the business.

This is not a hands-on test role; it's primarily documentation and analysis focused. Candidates from design, stress analysis, or test backgrounds who are strong with data interpretation and technical reporting are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Work within project teams to produce reliability documentation required for aircraft certification.
Analyse large sets of reliability data and prepare technical reports.
Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and related reliability studies.
Support reliability documentation through to completion before handover to the Safety and Airworthiness teams.
Assist in preparing production and reliability reports.
Collaborate with engineering, safety, and certification teams to maintain high reliability and compliance standards.
Contribute to risk management and design-for-reliability (DfR) processes.
Maintain detailed analytical oversight of failure reports and system behaviour.

About You

We're looking for someone with strong analytical capability and a solid technical foundation who enjoys working with complex data. Reliability engineering experience is not essential-training will be provided-but you must bring a technical mindset and the ability to interpret engineering data and documentation.

Essential:

Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or a related Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
2-5 years' experience in a technical or engineering role.
Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
Ability to work with and interpret large sets of data.
Comfortable reading and understanding electronic schematics or design documentation.
Eligible for full UK Security Clearance (SC).Desirable:

Experience in design engineering, stress analysis, or test engineering.
Experience with reliability or safety documentation in engineering environments.
Familiarity with aerospace or defence standards (ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-178C, DO-254A).
Understanding of DFMEA, FRACAS, or risk management processes.

What's on Offer

Annual incentive plan bonus.
25 days' holiday plus 8 bank holidays.
Comprehensive benefits platform including healthcare, holiday trading, and EV schemes.
Flexible/agile working by agreement.
Company pension:
3% employee / 6% employer
4% employee / 7% employer
5% employee / 8% employer
Cycle-to-Work and Electric Vehicle schemes.

Additional Information

This position involves exposure to US ITAR-controlled technology and information. As part of the recruitment process, applicants may be required to complete additional security screening.

My client is committed to equal opportunities and an inclusive workplace. All applications are considered on merit, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, or background

Edge Computing Recruitment Trends 2025 (UK): What Job Seekers Need To Know About Today’s Hiring Process

Summary: UK edge computing hiring has moved from tool‑lists to capability‑driven assessments that emphasise resilient edge architectures, real‑time data pipelines, secure device fleets, container/Kubernetes at the edge, on‑device/near‑edge ML, and measurable business impact (latency, reliability, cost‑to‑serve). This guide explains what’s changed, what to expect in interviews & how to prepare—especially for edge platform engineers, IoT/OT engineers, edge SREs, embedded/firmware engineers, edge AI/ML engineers, network engineers (5G/private LTE), security specialists & product managers. Who this is for: Edge platform/SRE, IoT solution architects, embedded/firmware developers, edge AI/ML engineers, network engineers (5G/SD‑WAN), security engineers (OT/ICS), data/streaming engineers, site deployment/field engineers & edge product managers targeting roles in the UK.

Why Edge Computing Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

For years, computing innovation was focused on the cloud. But as demand for real-time analytics, low-latency processing and secure local data handling grows, edge computing has become the next frontier. From autonomous vehicles to healthcare monitoring devices, retail checkout systems to industrial IoT, edge computing is transforming how data is processed and used in the UK. This shift has also changed what it means to work in the field. Edge computing careers are no longer purely technical. They now require knowledge of law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design, as professionals must consider regulation, human behaviour, communication & usability alongside engineering. In this article, we’ll explore why UK edge computing careers are becoming more multidisciplinary, how these five fields intersect with edge roles, and what job-seekers & employers need to know to thrive in this evolving landscape.

Edge Computing Team Structures Explained: Who Does What in a Modern Edge Computing Department

Edge computing is expanding rapidly in the UK, driven by demands for low latency, on-site processing, IoT proliferation, autonomous systems, 5G, AI inference on devices, and regulatory pressures for data sovereignty. Businesses in sectors such as telecoms, industrial automation, retail, smart cities, autonomous vehicles, and healthcare are pushing computation and intelligence closer to where data is generated. But to design, build, deploy, secure, and maintain edge computing systems requires more than just hardware or software — it requires structured teams with clearly defined roles and responsibilities. If you’re hiring, or applying for roles via EdgeComputingJobs.co.uk, understanding who does what in a mature edge computing department will help you plan better, show relevance in job applications, and build resilient teams. This article covers the key roles in edge computing teams, how they collaborate through the project lifecycle, what skills and qualifications UK employers usually expect, salary benchmarks, challenges and trends, and best practices for structuring effective edge teams.
