Radiotherapy Treatment Planning Dosimetrist

Applications are welcomed for a Radiotherapy Treatment Planning Dosimetrist position based in the Radiotherapy Planning Section at Ipswich Hospital.


You will join a friendly and experienced team of Clinical Scientists, Dosimetrists and Engineers who will support your development in the role. You will be supported in continued professional development including in‑house and external courses.


We are a paperless department producing plans with the Eclipse treatment planning system within the Aria Oncology Management system. The department makes full use of the MVision Autocontouring system and participates in a range of clinical trials.


The planning team are responsible for creating plans using a range of techniques that include SABR, VMAT and IMRT. Experience in producing both conformal and VMAT or IMRT treatment plans would be ideal.


The department has two TrueBeam linear accelerators and an Ethos treatment machine. We are currently developing our adaptive treatment workflow, and once live you will play an integral part in preparing and delivering these treatments to our patients.


Main duties of the job

To carry out a specialist role in radiotherapy treatment planning, producing complex plans for the accurate delivery of optimal radiationtherapy and to assist in the provision of an efficient and comprehensive treatment planning service.

Person Specification

Qualifications



  • Honours Degree or equivalent in Therapy Radiography and post qualification training in radiotherapy treatment planning or Degree in Clinical Technology or related discipline with post qualification training in radiotherapy treatment planning.
  • Appropriate professional registration - Registered therapy radiographer / registered clinical technologist or eligible for clinical technologist register.
  • Teaching/Supervision

Experience

  • Post qualification experience within a radiotherapy treatment planning department.
  • Experience in use of 3D treatment planning systems for conformal and inverse planning.
  • Use of Eclipse treatment planning software.
  • Use of virtual simulation software.
