Job overview
This a unique role to work at a senior radiographer in the radiotherapy department caring for patients and working for Health Sciences University (HSU) supporting students. The job holder will equally split their time between both institutions.
The successful applicant will be seconded to HSU to days per week.

Main duties of the job
At UHD the post holder will act as a senior radiographer in delivering high quality radiotherapy treatment/planning of patients on the units as prescribed by the Clinical Oncologist.
To recognise when advice of a senior member of staff should be sought and to take appropriate action.
At HSU their duties will include incollaboration with both organisations, plan and coordinate practice placement allocations within agreed capacity.
- Onboarding of HSU students and design and deliver inductions which enrich studentexperience.
- Work in partnership with the therapeutic radiography team to ensure that training programmers are delivered, and competencies assessed in practice.
- Participate in the delivery of clinical simulation and professional development educationand training

The post holder will support both the radiotherapy team and the academic team to contribute to an outstanding student experience, delivering excellent graduate outcomes for all. The post holder will support the development of clinical skills, knowledge and attributes of students through professional education teaching The post holder will carry a portfolio of work in line with Trust`s and HSU’s

The post holder will work with the following individuals in the execution of duties: Head of School for Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at HSU Heads of Therapy Radiography HSU Academic and Administrative Teams Therapeutic Radiographers To deliver accurate radiotherapy treatment/planning to the highest standards for individual patients attending the department and to participate in the supervision of students on the units. To provide first line advice for patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment and to signpost to relevant support services To be able to fully utilise all equipment available in the area assigned to. Providing information, education, practical and emotional support to patients and carers during their radiotherapy episode
Person specificationEducation
- BSc or equivalent in Radiotherapy
- • Registered as a Therapeutic Radiographer with the HCPC
- Hold a PG Cert Education
Experience
- Post registration experience in Radiotherapy
- Experience of delivering education and training sessions to a small - medium group of people
- • Experience of authoring teaching sessions based on best practise or local policies
Technical Skills
- • Able to act as a deputy for the team leader in their absence
- • Able to demonstrate a problem solving and decision making ability
- • Previous demonstrable participation in research and/or audit
Knowledge
- Up to date knowledge in research and evidence-based practice
- • Able to stand and teach in front of large group
- • Demonstrable theoretical and practical knowledge of Radiotherapy
Other
- • Work across all sites of HSU and Radiotherapy catchment area
