Do you want to be part of our dedicated team of mechanical engineers and maintenance staff repairing our fleet of buses across Bristol? We’re looking for skilled and forward-thinking people to join our busy Engineering teams across our Bristol depots.

We offer technical up-skilling and career progression, we'll also provide your PPE and basic tools you'll need to succeed in your role, as well as a competitive hourly rate and great rewards & benefits (see below).

We are looking for NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified Engineers – preferably in heavy vehicle or PSV mechanical maintenance, however we also welcome applications from ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other sectors looking for a change.

Key Responsibilities as a Skilled Engineer with First Bus:
  • Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement

  • Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used

  • Carry out vehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using handheld data capture devices if applicable

  • Attend on-road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries where required

  • Carry out vehicle road testing where necessary to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair

  • Diagnose vehicle electrical faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used (in Electrician role)

  • Working Hours:38 hours per week, varying shifts available - nights, days, backshift – we’re happy to discuss a pattern that works for both the depot and you at the screening stage

  • Locations:Bristol Lawrence Hill, Easton Road BS5 0DZ

  • Pay Rate:Dayshift £19.70 per hour, nightshift £21.37 per hour

  • Joining Bonus: £3000 paid in two 6 monthly instalments*

About You:
  • Do you have a minimum Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair – PSV/HGV preferred

  • Do you have a flexible approach to work with the ability to multi skill?

  • Are you a UK driving license holder? A PCV license is desirable however we can help you achieve this
