University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us. Applicants who can demonstrate that they already meet the required competencies may be offered a Band 6 contract upon appointment. Our dosimetrists are key to safe and accurate radiotherapy treatments for our patients. You will contribute to patient positioning in mould room, treatment planning, brachytherapy tasks, run-ups and patient specific dosimetry. You will work alongside clinical scientists, oncologists, radiographers and engineers. You will be trained to become a site specialist with the department. You will be line managed by a Band 7 dosimetrist.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to patient positioning in mould room and treatment planning.
  • Perform brachytherapy tasks and run-ups; contribute to patient specific dosimetry.
  • Collaborate with clinical scientists, oncologists, radiographers and engineers.
  • Develop into a site specialist within the department.
  • Be line managed by a Band 7 dosimetrist.

Qualifications

  • Registered as a radiographer with the HCPC or as a clinical technologist on the RCT.
  • Radiotherapy treatment planning experience.
  • Mould room and/or brachytherapy experience.
  • Experience operating linear accelerators (for run-ups and PSD).
  • Ability to cover shifts between 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday - Friday.
  • Ability to manage own workload.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to focus for long periods of time.
  • Candidates with experience may be appointed into a Band 6 role.
